So not to get sidetracked in this thread about anything but Rezac...

But after watching his film and seeing his testing numbers, I like this kid a lot and see why the staff would as well. It's rare to find athletes being used to set the edge on a defense and play single high safety.
Agreed. His film is actually very good. His change of direction for an LB looks elite to me. He's listed as an athlete and also plays WR, but he plays much faster and looks more fluid on D. I think this kid would be a fantastic addition to this class. Why anyone would care about his star rating and offer list now when the ratings will be changing at least a half dozen times before signing day is beyond me.

Stars only matter as a composite metric. No one should care about what an individual's rating is. Either the film and one-on-one evaluations justify the offer or they don't. I don't see how anyone can look at this kid's film and say he's not worthy of an offer.

You like the way he moves but he's around 195 Lbs now. What does he looks like when he's 235? And if he is going to see the field with us he's going to do it as a 235 lb linebacker not some 195 lb safety or WR.

Looking at a tall guy too who probably isn't even 200 lbs yet. He's lining up at WR on offense and playing linebacker. You don't see that too much. The service academy and Ivy offers would lead us to believe he'd be in it for the long haul, but that's a grand assumption today with the portal being what it is. I'm really starting to think about that more than anything else now when it comes to sustaining a program. Guys who want to be at ND and are likely to stay. If everything remains the same off the field, and we have no indication that it's going to be anything but the same, this isn't going to be a roster of NIL bag chasers and portal mercenaries.

We have one LB on the roster who tops out at 235. Rest are under. I get your point but I think he can see the field at 220-225.

That seems to be what the staff envisions, hopefully the blueprint is on the roster right now. Nolan Ziegler played safety/WR (25 TD's receiving last HS year) enrolled at 6'3 205. Began a 3-star that ended a solid 4.

Also, wow this thread is nauseating - every offer isn't an absolute indicator of the program status. It's an 85 man roster+ (maybe it's not even a committable offer) -
but the kid's not athletically limited - long enough to develop at more than one position. There's value in that, when a player like Prince Kollie can't play Will with your depth chart he can't play at all (barely 6ft. and can't hold up at Mike). Obviously you can't only recruit these types - but I don't see any downside.

This is good to point out, but an even better point is what the weights of the top 2024 LB recruits are right now. 13 of the top 20 LB recruits are listed between 195-210 lbs according to 247 - and that's all LBs including the MLBs. Rezac is listed at 200 lbs. His current weight is not some sort of red flag.

The staff is obviously going the Zeigler, Zinter, Sneed, etc… route with LB recruiting.

According to Jamie U, (today on Hit & Hustle podcast), ND verified Teddy ran a 4.48 40?
Is that true?

If they verified it, yeah, why wouldn't it be?
I was wondering if I either heard it wrong or Jamie meant somebody else.

That’s what I meant about is it true?
And Jamie “heard” that, so maybe he heard it wrong.
I was wondering if anybody else heard it?

Dryskall said that was reported but there is a confirmed 4.52 out there

His twin bro is the QB and equally athletic. Let's throw a CB at him while we're at it.

I agree.

The staff definitely has identified a profile type. With time, we'll see how it all shakes out. At this point, early in MF coaching tenure, he and the staff should have the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

Regarding Hit & Hustle's pod, I agree and disagree with Greg regarding offer lists. He says you can't worry if a school like Nebraska is missing on a kid like Teddy. Who cares what Nebraska thinks....and he's right. Conversely, you'll come across a kid like Chris Cole, who's offer list contains the best of the best. When a 3-star kid has a Bama and Georgia offer, people should take notice. Imo, it works both ways. Some staffs are just better at identifying talent.

Also, it's important to focus on how a kid projects on ND's roster. Film, profile type/projection, roster fit, etc....there are a lot of things that should carry more weight than what some random recruiting ranking system says.

Many times I have seen Notre Dame land commitments from top 100 players only to see their rankings fall significantly through the many quarterly ranking updates. Let's just let the class build...trust the coaches and remember that we are all just passionate fans.

"Who cares what Nebraska thinks?" is a lifestyle choice I am 100% down with.
My father-in-law is a huge booster at Nebraska (lives in West O, same neighborhood as Father Jenkins’ family home), that’s how I know so much about Nebraska football. He was here the past week & we were discussing ND going after Carter Nelson, Teddy Rezac & Christian Jones…and he was sort of pissed, because he wants all three at Nebraska, but he is also a devout Catholic who admires Notre Dame & said if kids want to go there, he can live with it.
But he made it very clear that Nebraska wants all three & there is a difference in opinion between Frodt, Joseph and Rhule on who they like as recruits.

This is a big part of it, and now looking back I am not sure Bill Rees was all he was cracked up to be. We have a new staff, and new scouting/personal director (Butler?) identifying talent. Could this be a huge miss? Sure, but we may be exploiting a market inefficiency. Remember when everyone thought Theo Epstien/Billy Bean's of the world were crazy? Now it's the way of the baseball world.

This kid has some nice numbers, and file is pretty good in my opinion. The offer thing may seem concerning, but WHAT IF, we just got in earlier then others? We get so bent out of shape on IE when ND offers after a bunch of schools, but then when we are an early offer, we freak out because his offer list isn't great. Pick a horse fellas

I wouldn't be surprised if ND's strategy was to avoid trying to go toe to toe on NIL and instead invest extra resources into finding the best prospects who aren't on the Georgia/Alabama/OSU radar.

Everyone here saw how this just got done working out. Not real great. Adapt or die.
