KEVIN BAUMAN, MITCHELL EVANS OR HOLDEN STAES, TE, NOTRE DAME

Michael Mayer was Notre Dame’s leading receiver from the tight end spot, and neither of these guys had much of an impact this fall. Bauman caught three passes for 44 yards, while Staes caught one pass for 11 yards. Evans came back from foot surgery and was used in the running game, carrying seven times for 11 yards and one score. Staes, an Atlanta native, was the highest-rated recruit out of them all. The four-star prospect from the Class of 2022 was the No. 21 tight end during his cycle.

I'm interested to see what our TE's do this year. Most teams may think of them as an afterthought with MM gone.

He's going to be a 1st/2nd round pick you can just tell. He's next up.
Agree, I had higher hopes for Raridon but hard to have as high of expectations after 2 tough injuries. He seems like he has the right mentality and work ethic to make it back.

Staes will be very important this year. I think you'll see more explosive plays out of him than we even saw with Mayer. Mayer didn't have a QB to make the throws and they couldn't push him too much downfield with routes as they couldn't afford to ever give him a breather.

Looked great today. Can’t wait to see him and Eli on the field together.
Exactly. @IrishLax and others may have doubted, but this is ND's bread and butter this year, similar to how tight ends and backs compliment the passing game.

When you have a qb that can make plays, easy for the qb to take what the d gives.

Could be a lethal 1-2 tight end punch. Staes played well yesterday. He's a big kid who moves well. Showed good hands too and even a little wiggle for his size. Great game for him yesterday.

What?
I stood next to his family during the players’ walk this season and they raved about how much he & they loved ND.

Wonder if Evans coming back, Raridon & Flanigan emerging, pushed him out?

This one makes sense, as much as it sucks to say. Can't expect Mitchell, Staes, Eli, and Cooper to all stay.
