Doesn't he have tech 3-4 years of elgibility left? We need him up front, I would expect him to get a lot of time this year.
he wasn't an EE so i would guess he needs to finish spring semester to graduate. It makes sense he wouldn't be transferring now tbh

Is it possible that the reason he might transfer is because there are multiple players ahead of him on the depth chart?

From everything I heard before his injury he was setup for a ton of playing time. I don't get the transfer talk either and wonder how acurate it is. I don't see how playing time is the issue if it is true he is thinking about transfering.

We need big interior Dlineman so if he can play, do whatever to keep him

I think it's a situation where AK needs to get back to where he was pre-injury.

Rubio emerged while he was gone, but outside of that, Chris Smith is gone, Cross is all but assured to be moving to 3T. So the situation is actually a bit more inviting for someone like him.

If he can, him and Rubio can make a very promising tandem at 1T.

So what's the deal with this guy?

Latest II pod, O'Malley says they were told AK might not have a spot on the team next year. The Tims and Pete were kind of in disbelief at the prospect, considering the need for DL bodies.

10:46 of the pod, starts the convo, right before the Brey talk.

Reading between the lines, he may just not be healthy enough nor far enough along in his reconditioning after the injury to be a contributor (i.e. getting passed on the depth chart).

There's a difference between not having a spot on the two-deep when you're coming back from a season-killing injury, and "not having a spot on the team" though, especially for a guy with, what, three years of eligibility remaining. Or there should be anyway.

Getting "processed" with the offer of a medical or the ability to transfer out and play elsewhere immediately is perfectly fine.

No one is taking away his ND degree or the opportunity to play in 2023.

Is he graduating this spring? I’m not sure (he’s been at ND three years?)

If he’s getting his degree and has been passed over on the depth chart and wants to go somewhere he can play this coming season, ok, God bless.

If he’s not graduating until after the 2023 season but is being offered the choice between a medical to stay at ND or a transfer out to somewhere else (where he is presumably healthy enough to play?), I would disagree that is “perfectly fine.” That’s just processing a guy, which we haven’t typically done before.

Don't disagree with this, but can we go ahead and process Ron Powlus's kid or one of the former walkons before we start axing 'for real' scholarship players at positions of concern?

Keep on listening a little longer and hear the phrase “my glaring hole” from O’Malley.

At his weight, recovering from an ACL could take longer.

I know a lot of you think you know more about roster spots and who should be getting reps over the staff, but maybe just maybe... they know more about the team and are in better position to make the decisions... let's not act like the media guys get all the info on things

Mike Frank cries about this ever pod cast, and (Prister to a smaller extent) that Freeman doesn't give a lot of access to the team/practice. Makes ah me think ah, they are grasping at straws and content.

Ndnation is meltdown over this....
To be fair, it's mostly one guy pulling a Torpedo Vegas and just bombing the board with rants. And then the esteemed Andrew Cross (probably drunk on Meiomi again and high from smelling the thumb he freshly pulled out of his ass) pulling his usual routine. There are a decent number of hand-wringers concerned about what it means going forward (a reasonable concern) and some folks who don't see the big deal about it. I'm somewhat surprised they haven't nuked the board yet.
