Anyone have any idea why Lucky lefty is so down on Hartman? He makes it seem like it's a lazy move by Rees. I don't get it, Hartman seems like he'd be as close to a home run as we could hit at QB in the portal.

I think you're right Hartman is about as close as anyone could expect. IDK about Malik, he seems to have a grudge about things ND so he might not be objective.

Sims has talent but Hartman has been monumentally more productive than Sims.

Hartman vs Book-biggest difference I see is Hartman hits a lot more deep balls than Book.

I can't get over the irony of them both getting their first start within a few weeks apart way back in 2018. Hartman's looking at a NIL payday in his sixth year as a college QB and Book's already been drafted and cut by the NFL.

Looks like Hartman's going to make a lot more money than Book will playing football.

Am I the only one that would have been inclined to promise McCall or Pratt the starting reps as QB? Is Buchner so great in Rees's mind to not offer a couple of the elite QB transfer candidates a presumption as starter?

And what does being the presumptive starter mean anyways? You start the season with a couple INTs you could get benched anyways? Or are there substantial and material agreements made to these transfers?

Lax, how does this fall through?

I'm not LAX, but allow me:

Hartman's camp is upset that someone from the ND side leaked the news that ND was the "likely destination" once his name officially hit the portal.

ND's camp uses back-channels to deny that they were the source to smooth things over. Thamel goes radio silent.

Hartman inexplicably transfers to Florida to compete with Mertz. Mertz withdraws from Florida, and comes to ND.

It turns out that Drew Pyne's dad was the source that dropped the "Hartman to ND" rumors to Thamel.

Graham Mertz beats out Tyler Buchner for the starting job next year, and goes 182/275 for 22 TD's, 16 INT's, and rushes for -29 yards on the year.

Hartman leads Florida on a completely shocking national title run, then gets drafted in the second round.

Glancing back at 247, Hartman committed to Wake Forest on July 7, 2016. I can't find the timing of his original offer but it seems likely that happened during Bill Rees' tenure.

I hate to say it but the Michigan model right now should also be the ND model: 1. Recruit the best high schoolers you can that are fits, and 2. get super competitive in the portal. The portal could be the equalizer if ND chose to let it be.

Michigan is cleaning up in the portal because they are 25 - 2 in the last two seasons. It’s not a special “model”, it’s called winning. We know Michigan has poor NIL.

If we were landing transfer from UVA and Stanford the story would be well those “don’t count” like Skowronek and Joseph.

Wait until they win a playoff game by beating TCU. Fun times.

Would be easy to be 25-2 playing that schedule.

Well recruits wonder about two stupid losses probably as much if not more than we do.

Its like the Chicken and the Pig with Breakfast.... one has a vested interest and the other is fully committed~!

Hartman is a great get. Watched him multiple times. Kid is not afraid to stand tall and take deep shots. We have some big bodied WRs, can’t wait to see what they do on those 50/50 balls and how our underneath routes and play action with our running game develop. The only thing I haven’t seen Hartman do is get caught by an overweight middle aged cop while shitfaced.
