Would TCU be a player for Card?
Nix sticking around takes one of the better-paying programs out of the QB transfer musical chairs, which is nice.

They’ve been considered one of the favourites. An insider or two, not on the ND beat, have said that Card-TCU is nearing a done deal

Hm. OK. Well, it would seem if he were coming our way there'd have been more smoke by now.

Not sure I buy any report of TCU and Card being a done deal, nor have I seen one.

Bo Nix coming back to Oregon. Could throw a wrench in the plans of those wanting a clearing day 1.

Can someone explain how Michigan is getting transfers in so quick from all sorts of schools? Are there academic requirements for football players that much lower than NDs, or is there something else? They have guys from Coastal Carolina, ASU, and Nebraska. (they also have the Stanford guys, but that makes sense academically).

Michigan has never had academic standards related to their football team. Even Harbaugh said so when he took the job and made comments about how embarrassing it was. Regardless, don't see how that'd necessarily impact transfers.

Michigan had a kid last year who left Bama went to Houston was kicked off the team there and then to Tennessee Martin

He was a grad transfer though in the end.

If they land Fiske and Smith from this first open period I don’t see the struggle. They reportedly didn’t want to host QBs yet.

Landed the first DL we heard they were on. Landed a WR, though maybe not the first choice.

Fiske and Smith would both be excellent depth pieces early in the process. I think the Shrader and the PWO punter are also great insurance policies at their respective positions. We’ll see if the other incoming transfers are more splashy as I’m sure that‘s what we’d like to see especially at QB.

Fiske and Smith are likely going to be starters. Both have played a lot of football, especially Fiske. Ryan Roberts mentioned on an IB stream a week or two ago, that Fiske has draftable grades for the NFL, and not talking seventh rounder.

Smith provides something that we don't have currently on the roster.

I think they need to go after a Safety/Corner unless Joseph is coming back, even then I'd still target a Safety with multiple years of experience left considering Bowen is probally flipping

If Fiske is going to be a mid-rounder why isn't he declaring for the draft? I can't imagine that to be true.

Agreed. The only way you turn down mid round NFL money is if you think there is a pretty good chance you become an even higher pick. But it doesn’t even seem like he’s testing the waters. I don’t want to fall for expectation wise the Cain Madden was an All American thing.
