Reading the reports and the tea leaves, it seems he expected to be guaranteed the starting job going into next year? When he was told he'd have to compete, he didn't wanna take the chance of losing the job so he's transferring. Is that fair to say?

Wish him all the best. He played hard - did what you want the back up to do, really. No hard feelings here. He wasn't the future at QB for us and he should look out for himself.

Yup. I’m sure it felt like a back stab but that’s the environment QBs are in now.

I cant see him being guaranteed to start anywhere at a P5 school.

3rd string might be a stretch when you consider two young QBs behind him in 2023. I loved that drew fought like he'll for ND this year. I wish him luck.

IB just said the same thing on their live Youtube show.

Drew was certainly not the most gifted QB ND has ever had, but his effort and heart certainly cannot be questioned. Seems like a great young man, too. A tremendous representative for the University. I wish him well wherever he ends up.

There's just no way he was going to be the starter next year, injuries or not. One of Buchner, Angeli, Minchey, or incoming transfer have to be the guy.

No one on the staff had to tell Drew a transfer was coming in. It's common knowledge. He doesn't live in a sensory deprivation tank. He was never going to start next year, and he would have been lucky to even be #2. He's making the right move, assuming he got his degree.

I just hate it for him that he isn't getting his degree. All that work to not come away with it when you have to be extremely close is brutal
