My in-laws fiftieth anniversary was tonight and they got a mariachi band. I wore my where’s Waldo (most glorious jersey in usmnt history) just to show the band what’s up… now I’m on my way to my brother in law’s and his Man U buddy will be there so I switched to my Newcastle top,… all the bitches gettin shown today.

It’s not petty if you’re right.

So I must admit I am not much of a soccer fan. Should I have hope for it’s future? This US team seems like they are really young but talented.

If they can ever figure out the striker situation, they may actually make some noise on a global level.

Yes you should have lots of hope for the future. It’s the most talented roster we’ve ever had. The biggest question most people have is with our coaching staff.

The people who come out of the woodwork every four years to remind everyone they don't care about soccer are some of the worst sports people this side of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

At least they have the common decency to call it soccer,…

Talented but a little overrated by many fans. IMO. Also, both our starting center backs have man-buns, which is a bad sign.
Our CBs are a strength for the team.

But I agree on the man buns. I always say I was lucky. I got out of high school right before heroin problem escalated, and I got out of college right before the man bun became fashionable. Not sure which one is a worse epidemic on our youth.

Never understood the hype with Belgium, either. They've won absolutely nothing and they're having a Golden Age?
They certainly have (had) the talent to challenge evidenced by their 2018 WC run. But I agree, nothing to show from their golden generation.

They’re enjoying their best run of talent ever for sure,…

They came in third in 2018. That's all they have to show for a Golden Age?

They're Texas A&M.

Belgium has a whopping 12 million people.

Uruguay is the only smaller nation to have won, and that was 92 and 72 years ago, respectively.

Sweden has 11 million, they were runner-up in the 50's.
Croatia has <4 million, they were runner-up in 2018.

Can have a great team but at some point you start playing countries with a lot more Jimmies and Joes to pick from.

Roasting a country the size of Belgium for finishing third at a WC? OK....
LOL. Whoever Beano Cooked these guys evidently wasn't factoring the population of their nation. They've spent a good amount of time at the top of FIFA's world rankings.

What constitutes a Golden Generation? They have a lot of players making wages at big clubs in Europe. Collectively, they have third place finish in the last World Cup.

They were knocked out of the 2016 Euros by Wales.

Some pundit along the way called this their Golden Generation. Their population must not have been taken into consideration, but if that's going to be the case, I'll drop it.

They’ve had their most successful run of results in the Euros/World Cup. So, relative to their entire history, this is definitely a “golden generation” for them.

Probably could have gone further with a better manager.

Pundits absolutely love Martinez, though. Not sure why.

England got KO'ed Iceland, a country with a quarter million inbred Chillbillies in Euro 2016. Followed it up by making the WC semis in 2018. Weird things happen.

So they only have 12 million people and sports happens sometimes?
