“It was not a choice," Leonhard said. "He was dismissed from our program. ...It was an unfortunate incident. At this point, it's more of a family matter we had to deal with internally”

So Brown publicly enters the portal yesterday and Leonhard comes back and says oh no he was dismissed.

Not very “internal” lol. Idk what’s the norm here, I feel like in the off-season guys don’t get outed for the real reason why the portal entry a lot but mid season break ups are usually the messier ones.

2nd stringer for Wisconsin. Could be worth a look to backfill our 2022 WR class if needed.

Good size. Three years of eligibility left. But sophomore transfers are unlikely. Most Colleges at ND stop accepting transfers after the sophomore year has exhausted.

But I'm not the guy that knows completely the entire transfer system and how it works at ND.

The administration really needs to stop being so high and mighty with their undergrad transfer requirements. If a kid had a ND/Stanford/NW/Vandy/Duke/WF offer out of HS and is academically eligible at their current program they should have no issue transferring to ND.

For who though?

The teams and coaches. To me it seems like it would be a distraction. And it in some cases it would screw up the depth charts.

And during the season the coaches don’t need more headaches.

Oh I agree. Whole thing will be a debacle (except for the relative handful of players who get paid a lot of money to transfer up the food chain).
For all the bellyaching about NIL and recruiting, the wide-open free transfers pose a much bigger problem for college football, IMO.

I like his answer and agree with it in some regards BUT how many of those guys transferring are gonna be guys sitting behind:

TE Tyler Stephens - Buffalo transfer
LB Ty’Ron Hopper - Florida transfer
DT Jayden Jernigan - Ok St transfer
CB Dreyden Norwood - A&M transfer
S Joseph Charleston - Clemson transfer
RB Cody Shrader - Truman St transfer

You wanna be the program that fights through battles and sticks together? Fine don’t transfer in an entire new defense next year. Which hey it has worked. Their D is awesome. Built on backups of other programs. Hypocritical.

Seen a lot of bracing for the portal in pressers from programs of Missouri’s type level.

Let’s face it. This is no longer “college football”. It’s pro football at a lower level and lower compensation. The school name is no different than the tag Chicago or Buffalo on the Bears and Bills. NIL and the transfer portal have basically become the college version of free agency.

At the football factories (SEC, Clemson, Oklahoma, etc, ND is close but has a somewhat truer goal), greed and instant gratification has taken over.

The only thing that would change this is taking government, tv and sponsorship revenue out of the colleges. And we know that’s not happening unless our economy collapses.

Harvard has at least 5/6 starters look to grad transfer to FBS every year, ND should have the pick every single year tbh

Wasn’t GA Tech at least competitive with the backup, even third stringer? No way is Sims in line for an upgrade of school. Probably going lower a level.
