Tyree as a slot WR versus Tyree as a RB:

That's fair, but where would Tyree's experience and speed be best served right now, in a crowded backfield or a struggling receiving group? This is about getting him the ball in space and letting him do something with it. He's getting almost a full yard less per carry than Diggs, and 1 1/2 less yards compared to Estime. We're not incredibly fast at the WR position at the moment, that's a good place to leverage Tyree's strengths.

His strengths are best utilized in certain gadget run/pass game calls. Exactly what he does now.

You keep saying his strengths can be utilized is at WR, but I am saying I don’t think it’ll translate to being an actual WR. So he’s gonna end up doing the same things lol, we’re just relabeling it and saying now we have WR depth. It’s not that different compared to pre season suggestions of moving Raridon to WR. Does it really change anything? The depth chart looks a bit nicer but not particularly. Or whatever we tried to ever do with Jafar Armstrong. The usage is the key. Like Love and Edwards have said in their recruiting interviews, don’t even call it RB or WR they are just offensive weapons.

Estimes 9 tds is impressive
He's the best short yardage back, it makes sense that he's getting most of the carries at the goal line.

I felt for Diggs at bit in that UNLV game. He was by far the work horse of the day getting 28 carries for 130 yards, both careers highs. Tyree and Estime were getting 43 yards and 30 yards respectively, but Diggs had no TDs that day as Tyree and Estime got the carries at the goal line. That's kind of how it's gone for him this year, he's got comparable yards to Estime but only 1 rushing TD and 1 receiving TD to show for it. He's been a great team player though, hoping he gets more opportunities to get in the endzone.

Its a really young RB room and with this next class coming in - very, very full.

To bad Freeman can't trade two running backs to another program for a decent, experienced QB!

At this point with the transfer portal it feels like almost anything is possible.

All a bit of an odd circle of stuff going on:

“McCullough, according to sources, had a number in mind. He wanted $300,000 up front, and another $5,000 per month in spending cash for the year.

Hoosiers For Good, an Indiana NIL collective, had discussions with McCullough and his father and said they could give $100,000 and work on the rest. That wasn't enough.

Hoosiers Connect, another Indiana collective, added another $100,000. Others involved in the talks said they told the McCulloughs that they would need time to raise other funds, but that they also had concerns about the payments being made all up front, especially with transfer portal windows still opening before the start of the 2023 season.”

Nothing like having one of your coach's kids recruit against you. Fucking unbelievable.

Tbf, wouldn’t you do the same? Kid is just trying to bring studs with him to his new school. Plus it’s not like there isn’t interest from the other side.

If this is all true, I suppose this explains why ND wasn't a player here for his transfer.

Well this is ironic, I just got ripped in the Bowen thread for more or less saying the same thing about NIL. Funny that a coach on staff doesn't feel the ND education is worth more then upfront money. Apparently MFMF needs to sell his coaches on ND too, WTF

It's not a good look, and I'd show him the door. You don't think OU is using this with Bowen? Makes me sick.

Y’all are a bunch of doom and gloom people. Get rid of Deland because of his son’s actions? No way in hell, our rbs looked pretty damn impressive this year. He’s one of our best coaches. Period.
I attribute some of the performance to OL play. Losing both Edwards and Limar is not great as it once was.

Surprised kid texted Bowen. I am sure Freeman was chagrined.

I don’t think we should get rid of Deland. He’s a good coach. But did you miss the part about how it was Dasan “and his father” negotiating NIL with Indiana. Think he wasn’t in the room with OU as well? It’s a weird situation.

As for the kid tweeting at Bowen, that’s not on his dad but it’s a low-class move at this exact moment in time. Just not tweeting is always fine.
