because the whole tournament in this instance, is an abomination
Oh lord.. If it is here I assume you will boycott it also because we have killed 60 million babies in the womb, killed Iraqis both young and old in the thousands. I can go on. Keep your moral grandstanding to yourself.

I mean... The US government isn't the ones sponsoring the abortions. That's a little bit different.

Then there is the state sponsored executions and violations of human rights for peoples in Qatar, the lack of oversight for the (slave) workers and the conditions, and the fact that the only reason this is in Qatar is because of bribes, backroom deals, and general sliminess from everyone's favorite Oligarchy/Dictatorship of Russia.

But sure, let's totally compare the US and Qatar for this World Cup.

How about Iraq? How about our past sins? I mean be morally consistent. I agree that Qatar has issues but so does every nation. The USA has more blood on its hands than almost any nation. So I want to see you in four years with the same stances.

I am hopeful that the play on the field is fantastic but this year's tournament is a FIFA disaster. The fact that Qatar received the hosting privilege to begin with...The accommodations for the fans...The attempt to silence players and fans...having to play in the winter months...on and on.

Listen I am not a Qatar supporter, just hate the pointing of the finger when our own house is a train wreck. I hope for a good tournament, good play and that FIFA opens the process up( nit likely).

I'm okay with Qatar hosting, if only because giving it to them helped expose FIFA. It should be held in Europe exclusively. They have the stadiums for it. The infrastructure. Etc.

Yes, FIFA was exposed. Then that was all ignored and it is still a corrupt organization.

The thing is there are several places that could easily host the event without having to build infrastructure, stadiums, hotels (or bring in shipping containers and tents), etc. Qatar? Ridiculous.

We have our sins no doubt. But like I said, they aren't even close. I disagree with Iraq, we should never have been there. I 100% believe that. That's still not the same as stoning gay people to death in your own country...

Back to soccer, wrong place to debate.

Final roster prediction for USMNT (Announcement this Wednesday)
Great article with an in-depth breakdown: USMNT roster prediction 4.0: Our final picks for the 26-man squad

Goalkeeper (3): Sean Johnson, Zack Steffen, Matt Turner (I would be fine if Gregg brings Slonina instead of Sean Johnson...but I think he will reward the third goalkeeper spot with an MLS lifer who had a very good season for NYCFC.)
Left back (2): Antonee Robinson, Joe Scally (Scally needs to be on the plane. He can play both left and right back and is very talented.)
Center back (4): Cameron Carter-Vickers, Aaron Long, Chris Richards, Walker Zimmerman (Richards is a doubt, because of injury...but if he is healthy he needs to come. He is the most talented player in the pool. If he doesn't come, I hope Gregg chooses Tim Ream. He has a great chance vs Manchester City tommorow to make one last impression before the lineup announcement this week. John Anthony Brooks has been a bench player for Benfica, so just don't see how he is on the plane to Qatar)
Right back (3): Reggie Cannon, Sergiño Dest, DeAndre Yedlin (Shaq Moore has found some good form in MLS, but don't see how he finds a spot over the other three.)
Defensive midfielder (2): Tyler Adams, Kellyn Acosta (These two are automatic picks. Excited to see Acosta play in MLS Cup tommorow.)
Central midfielder (4): Weston McKennie, Yunus Musah, Cristian Roldan, Malik Tillman (Tillman may get left behind for a more senior option, but he is a possible game winner of the bench. I hope Gregg makes the right decision and brings him)
Winger (5): Brenden Aaronson, Paul Arriola, Christian Pulisic, Gio Reyna, Tim Weah (Jordan Morris has been a good servant to USMNT, but he just misses out)
Striker (3): Jesus Ferreira, Ricardo Pepi, Josh Sargent (Sargent gets the call over Pefok, because Gregg is more comfortable with his playing style. Wright also may deserve a spot, but just not enough room on the roster to carry four strikers.)

It exposed FIFA to a lot of very casual football fans that normally wouldn't give a shit. Russia getting 2018 wasn't much worse.

Qatar shown a light on FIFA in places where people were obviously not paying attention.

There are reports that Fenway Sports Group are putting Liverpool FC up for sale.

They saw this mornning's Champions League draw and said "screw it, let's just focus on the Red Sox." LOL

Draw could not have went much better from a City's fan perspective, only thing that would have made it better would have been to draw Brugge.
Liverpool vs Madrid is going to be some high drama.

Liverpool only get knocked out of Champions League by teams from Madrid. Not much drama there.

The most recent time they won it they beat Tottenham. In Madrid.

Saw Sadio Mane is now ruled out due to injury. Shame.

My biggest complaint about the WC now is the schedule jam and running straight from league play and CL play into WC play and then back to league play. Crazy. Too much for these guys and clubs.

Rested Erling Haaland is going to score a billion goals when the World Cup break is over
