This isn't about being satisfied at that level. It's about nosediving from that level. Yes, I'm one of the glass half empty people on here. You can never be satisfied.
We've clearly taken a step back in consistency. It's on Freeman to figure out how to dramatically raise the floor of this team in short order. But he's only halfway through this first season. He's probably going to get at least three years to figure this all out.
I don't get your comment about an inability to satisfy me. I just have no tolerance for those of you who choose to inflict their emotional incontinence about the team on this board. You caught no flak from me when you were posting vaguely positive fortune cookie aphorisms all the time.
I disagree. Every QB regressed. ND has become a place whee QB's go to die.
You think Rees and Book weren't developed? That a better coach could have wrung more productivity out of them?
He left him with a top ten roster. A roster that most coaches would kill for. All h had to do was bring in a qb and a couple of recievers to fill holes.
We were all hoping that Freeman could maintain Kelly's high floor while upgrading the roster over the next few seasons to increase the ceiling. We weren't going anywhere this season anyway, so as long as he can keep recruiting at a high level while he figures this stuff out, then it doesn't really matter what our record for 2022 is. But he does have to figure it out sooner than later.
That's fair enough but i give credence to his opinion of his subordinates.
He tried to make one of those subordinates the highest paid OC in the country for him at LSU, and yet we're ready to burn Rees in effigy. So there's no consistency here. Kelly's a lazy nepotistic moron when he hired Rees to be his OC, but we have to solemnly nod in agreement when he tweets, "Freeman ain't it" from his burner account on Twitter?
