You are correct. I didn't intend for my post to come off as "Malice" or whatever. Looking back it, I don't think anything is wrong with it. All I was getting at, most families will struggle with saying "no" to the money. If you go to SLUH, might be a different story.

If you are from anywhere near the Metro East area. You get it.

Same thing going on here in Tampa area. Public schools suck academically and most of sports programs are underfunded vs the private schools. So the athletes go to the private/parochial schools often for little or no tuition. They aren’t catholic.

Fan’s always think we have an advantage re these kids but we don’t. Might even want to get away from the “sit in church and be quiet“ stuff.

If the fit thing is true than that might be a big hurdle to overcome. I know his mom wasn’t overly impressed with the facilities if I remember correctly. That just might be enough for him to have a difficult decision to make.

WRONG. But I get your limited thinking. Saying we don't have an advantage is like saying anything without caveats. You're arguing a different point.

If kids liked their high school or grew comfort with the environment, then they will naturally seek a place that reproduces that set and setting.

If kids disliked their high school, then it's up to the ND coaching staff to show them that Notre Dame is the premiere private, Catholic school and can be a place for maturation into manhood, the NFL, positions in top companies and spiritual development.

We can spin this anyway we want but the openly negative is a strange path to choose. Some kids want a wild and raucous social scene, we obviously disqualify for those kids from the outset and they'd have a hell of a time making it 4 years in South Bend.

This decision is likely pretty easy for us as fans, but you start factoring in all the different elements (especially now with the NIL stuff) and it is pretty easy to see why these kids waffle more and more on these commitments. Plus, you also factor in the accelerated timeline recruits are facing now...we are seeing 2025 offers being talked about in some circles.

Normally I'd agree with you on this and of course it's better for him to take his time and not change his mind, but in this specific case ND had all the momentum so it seems that the longer it stretches out, the less likely it is that his choice will be ND. Plus, it's already pretty late in the cycle, so it's already pretty rare that recruits make a decision this late and then switch it up before signing day. Either way, I hope he chooses the Irish, we need him badly to revive this class

Fair enough, but I don't believe the class needs reviving as much as you it seems. This class isn't where it once was and there is no doubt about that, but it is also easily the best class ND has had in some time. Personally, IMO ND has little to no chance of having the #1 recruiting class in any given year...especially in this NIL world. I'm thinking Top 5 year in and year out is a lofty, but realistic, goal. ND operates differently than others for better or worse. One thing I like about MF is by all accounts he seems to have bought into that fact.

I do, however, 100% agree that Love and Lyons would provide this class with some additional playmakers that this team is missing in the grand scheme of things. I think the staff is pushing to do so as best they can. Recruiting efforts are the least of my worries with this particular staff. They are pounding the pavement in that department.

It happens everywhere and been going on for a long time. I had a nephew who was recruited to go to Roncalli. His parents couldn’t afford it, yet he ends up there while his sister went to the local public HS. That was 25 years ago. Lol

Yea I'm not saying the sky is falling, but things have slowed down a bit and Love would provide that final spark we need to ensure a top 5 class. You're right though, this is easily the best class we've had since 2013 and it looks like we'll get classes like this much more consistently under Freeman.

Around the 25:30 mark in the video below, it sounds like Texas A&M is making a strong surge in the J. Love recruitment. One main reason seems to be facilities, which Love's mom did comment on stating that NDs weren't very impressive. It sounds like ND still has a good chance, but I'm no longer getting my hopes up over this one. At one point I was certain we'd land Love, now I'm thinking that staff will really have to fight hard to land him and even that may not be enough.

Facilities are important and all, but are they THAT important? Facilities shouldn't determine a commitment/recruitment. If I'm deciding on a school, facilities are near the bottom of my list. Like I couldn't give two shits if my locker has its own wifi set up, or I can use a built in Alexa to cater to my every whim.

If Im not mistaken, ND hasn't upgraded the Gug since it's opening in 2005. There was the $400 million put into the stadium renovation project back in 2015, but little to nothing has been added to the Gug.

I don't think NDs facilities are so bad that it would make a difference to me, but it all depends on priorities. Knowing what I know now, you don't need fancy equipment to be in shape and develop athletically. If I were a RB recruit I'd be ok with running up the sand dunes at Lake Michigan and looking at what Balis has done with the program. But you never know how these kids prioritize so I do wish ND would be a little quicker to make updates to the facilities.

I talked to a guy that outfits universities and professional teams gyms and facilites. He says most high end places from a practical sense are about the same. After being at most places once you get past the glitz and lights sometimes less is more.... if that makes sense.

There are plenty of schools with nicer facilities than ND, but less successful programs that put less people in the NFL - including Texas A&M! It's weird that it's his mom saying that and not the kid, though. Seems backwards.

I think we all know we won’t lose this because of one comment about facilities a few weeks ago if he goes elsewhere. The positive is this resembles Gray more than anyone, who kept delaying his decision, but always set a return visit to ND. Still waiting for Dante Moore and Keon Keeley to visit again. The negative is we’ve seen A&M literally win at the 11th hour, so no reporting really matters till then.
