I believe we’re 2-0 if BK was still here. But, we’ll never know
Sadly, I think you’re correct. He cannot/will not win a title, but he did end up developing the ability to win these kinds of games. I don’t know which is worse, though, ekeing out a ten win season only to get blasted in a bowl, or just playing like what we really are now and not raising expectations…. 😐.

we’re kinda in a world of shit, here.

ND took a gamble on hiring Freeman and with Jack Swarbrick listening to players to hire him.

I am not going to throw Freeman under the bus, I didn't think it would be this much of a learning curve, but I am going to stick with Freeman.

I also thought Freeman wouldn't have to think about making changes- I would think about making 2 changes: Tommy Rees has regressed as an OC and Tyler Buchner has not impressed me; I wish we had another year with Jack Coan.

Maybe Rees should've gone with Kelly at LSU and Buchner only playing 1 year of high school football...Buchner the bust QB??

There's been gaping holes for years, for sure. BK never had a pair of receivers go for a combined 2000 yards in the same season. Closest was in 2013 with TJ Jones going over 1100 and Davaris Daniels going for about 800 with Tommy throwing to them both. Weis did it multiple times with the Shark, McKnight/Stovall, Tate/Floyd. Our WR group just hasn't been dominant in some time. They haven't always had superior QBs throwing to them, but McKinley and Sko weren't scaring any DCs. We're lucky if we have one dominant #1 WR to throw to in a season. We've got to recruit the position better as well as coach them up. It's no wonder teams just load the box and dare us to pass, we really don't have the weapons.

There’s a lot of players on this team other coaches would get more out of. Like the QB position. Rees is a horrible teacher.

We took a track star in Lenzy and he has not been good at all here. I bet if he would have home to Oregon you would have seen a different player.

I think we all need to step back from the ledge a bit. I for one truly believe in Freeman. Give it some time. He’ll adapt. All the so called experts that have been around him called this a great hire. It’s 2 games in, RELAX. He didn’t look out of his depth against Ohio state.
Yes. But good lord…..App st went into College Station and beat #6. These games clearly happen to more well established coaches. Go chop a tree down, go pull some weeds, kick a puppy and ask forgiveness and get over the disappointment and get behind your team.

That was a rough game for the coaches and players (and fans). Some fans lost A LOT of money on this result. I can’t believe the O line can’t open holes, Rees hasn’t realized how to call games for the players on the field, how the QB position (still have hope for Buchner) has developed, how the second half has been gross in every MF game……etc

I am not ready to ready to say MF is a going to stink forever based on his first few games, but yuck on this start. I will say that he’s going to really appreciate the wins now (if we get some). I’m really disappointed in the results so far and was expecting better. As far as Rees, I would like to know what he is doing well? Develop relationships with entire QB room? Develop QB position? Call a game well? Recruit QBs? Have a recruiting plan for QBs? Have a secondary plan to recruit QBs? I get that Buchner was supposed to be the man (maybe he will be, but if not - what kind of talent is behind him?). I liked him as a player and he’s had his moments in games as OC, but he’s not effective as OC and as a recruiter IMO. The results speak for themselves.

I don’t think the defense was perfect today, but being put in bad positions repeatedly by the offense hurts. I wish the experienced star players could find a way to get more pressure on the QB. Losing up the middle and at the point of attack should not happen against teams like Marshall. I’m embarrassed and discouraged, but I’m still a fan and want this to turn around. I generally get several texts from friends when ND loses busting my balls. It’s pretty telling that I didn’t get a single text yesterday after the game - that’s how bad this was, my friends won’t even pick on me about it……smh

App state would embarrass us.

I don't follow recruiting or pay much attention in the off-season, I just watch the games. It feels an awful lot like we have exactly one good player.
I genuinely don't believe this is on Freeman. He inherited the problems that brought us to 0-2, including Rees. He needs to be given a chance to bring in his people and a couple recruiting classes minimum. The problem is does he have the authority to make the appropriate changes?

Oregon would have realized he's not a true deep threat and given him the ball in space or on short routes. Rees has zero idea how to fit the O to the players' skills.

It was an 11-win team if the (many) question marks on offense all answered in the affirmative. So far they have not. Though honestly I'm more disappointed in the parts we expected to be good - the O-Line and the front seven.

If we had a competent guard and center and a Jack Coan level quarterback, the game yesterday is a blowout. While the defense was far from perfect, idk how much of that is on Freeman. They allowed 19 points which should always be enough to win.

My major concern is this is the coach the players demanded.

They have now laid 3 straight eggs.

If he doesn't turn it around with the quickness he's gonna be fired.

I’m all in on freeman but he needs to make the necessary changes.
1. Figure out the offense call up Hartline after this season give me OC and make him assistant coach.
2. Go after a QB transfer someone 6’3 or taller and who can sling it. Regardless if Care comes in 2023 or not he isn’t gonna be ready to start year 1
3. Bring in two grad transfer WR’s

You guys are nuts. He has had 2 legitimate games under his watch, and one was against what some people were saying would be the best OSU team of all time.

“Imagine if Nebraska fired Scott Frost after his 0-6 start in season 1!!!!! Where would they be now?????”

For real though, give the man time.

A good coach would be 2-1 so far and a great coach would be 3-0. It’s not like it’s 2010 and Freeman is taking over a dumpster fire program that needs to be rebuilt. He’s learning on the job and hopefully it doesn’t cost ND this incoming recruiting class.

Freeman didn't hire Rees. He cannot be blamed for Rees' problems. The defense wasn't great but it was good enough to win. The offense is shockingly bad. And remember that Rees has been in charge of the offense for several years and the QBs before that.

Hire Herman/Cutcliffe/Mullen/anyone really as an analyst/QB coach/etc. and give that person play calling duties. Rees can retain his title/salary but must not be allowed to call plays.

It's possible Freeman is a disaster, in which case we can move on. Way too early to make any judgments about that, though. If the season ends with 2 or 3 wins, though, there is a case for moving on at that point. But we can wait for that to happen before working through that situation.

Nice try. We were Preseason Top 5 in ALL THE POLLS. ND88 / Ulinkin are boot lickers for losers. ND's goal is winning Nattys. Stop making excuses. We are underperforming. We were Top 5 going in - EVEN BY THE COACHES. SO YOU ARE SMARTER THAN THE COACHES NOW? "Gapping Holes" - LOL. What a cop out.

I presume I am arguing with Ms. Rees and Ms. Freeman. Just sayin.

That was my concern from the get-go. What’s going to happen if Freeman decides to get tough with the players? I would rather the players hate the guy and respect him, than love the guy and disrespect him. Either way, he’s here for at least the next two years, so I’m willing to let it play out. I still disagree with the hire

Freeman is the head coach and is responsible for everything going on. I believe he can fire Rees today if he had the balls to do so

You’re arguing with yourself now. Maybe if you talk louder you’ll calm the voices down.
Thank you, Ms. Rees, but, no, I was responding to Ulukit's post...can't you not see it??? Maybe with the extra time now that we are out of the hunt for the CFB Playoffs you can visit your optometrist.
