NCAA has tightened down the portal window. First step in reigning in this craziness?

The new rule creates two transfer portal windows in college football and other sports: 45 days "beginning the day following the championship selection," and. a 15 day period in the first two weeks of May at the end of spring practice, May 1-15. the two windows last a total of 60 days.

That makes a lot more sense than letting people transfer just whenever they want. Guys entering the portal during the season, in particular, was a terrible idea.

This is going to help the coaching staffs as well. They won't have to spend as much courting kids and will be able to determine the needs of their rosters a little easier.

i think it helps with roster needs but i don tknow about the courting. current roster recruitment is a new and ongoing thing now.

I view this as the NBA free agency period. All the agent and recruitment will already be done through back channels and the by the time the portal window opens it will just be quick and instant.
