Early on one commentator said that the MU ownership wanted Ronaldo as a "shiny toy." He didn't think that this was a coaching decision and questioned whether the addition made any sense. Ronaldo for sure doesn't play defense, almost at all (except for corner kick defense) so any coach who likes people to show up defensively would be hard pressed to love Ronaldo's defensive non-work ethic. But from an owner's view, CR7 sounds like a ticket seller.

The more USMNT players are playing and playing abroad somewhere other than MLS, the better.

You can actually find some really good, young talent if you look hard enough. To me it's transitioned from being a retirement league to a developmental league the last few years. The NYCFC, Red Bull, Dallas, Philly, and SKC academies are really pumping out a ton of talent that is moving onto Europe.

Key.

Playing significant minutes in England, Germany, Spain, Italy and or France. Even the grind of the English Championship is good for the soul.

The days of arguing if the mls is a top ten world league are pretty much dying off… I don’t think it’s wild to think that in ten more years the argument might be is it a top five league,… in that case it’s only leagues like Germany and England that are clear steps up. Point is, I totally get the want for our talent to play in Europe’s top leagues but we are also inching close to it not being totally necessary

i think we also need to ask if this Scottish style of physical play we have default adopted in many ways will work long term,… meaning can our national team legit grow it into a style that gives other nations fits and that we can win trophies with. If not, what stamp/style can?

I concur with this, however, until we've inched our way there fully my preference is get these kids playing at the highest level possible. That said, starting in the MLS is better than riding the bench in England.

Valuable meaningful minutes is the key if our men are ever going to win a World Cup while we're alive.

bit Sunderland Til I Die energy off this. We need football to allow to escape from our miserable lives in our miserable city
Wrexham is in Wales but is north enough to be miserable, for sure. If it's north it's been left to rot for the most part. Manchester may as well be Cleveland.

Did I see correctly that Liverpool bought a defender who never played a single minute for them and then sold him to Rangers for double what they paid for him?

Somewhere Billy Beane is doing cartwheels.

Not sure about Liverpool, but Man City sold about 30 Million pounds worth of academy players who never saw first team minutes. Southampton paid 12 million for one of them

Minus a serious injury to a important player, that could have not gone much worse for City.
Liverpool have played way more matches this pre season, and it really showed today.

As long as everyone stays healthy, going to be another top title race between two of the best club teams ever constructed.
Looking forward to it

I have petitioned NASA to appoint Guardiola and De Bruyne for the next Mars mission.
THEN everything will be just fine in soccer.

I dare you watch this and not get FIFA blue balls

I don't see Andrew Luck denying anything in that video

Actually, I enjoyed it. For as many Puska award winning goals, there have to be at least 5 that come so close. (Yeah, soccer blue balls applied after that video).

In other news, it looks like Ten Hag is showing Ronaldo who is in charge at United and I'm enjoying it. He definitely wants out, but rumor has it there are no actual offers on the table because his wages are so high.

Give me the full rebuild, getting rid of the dead weight, getting players in that aren't stupid expensive and already world class, but players that fit ETH's system.
