'08 TX RB Cyrus Gray (Texas A&M Verbal)

Don't waste any time worrying about him. We are NOT getting him. The RB situation is set for a few years. We have 3 front line guys on the roster now and will add another solid guy in Jonas. If Jabbie comes back next season, we will be 5 deep with talent. I would say that Jonas will probably Redshirt if Jabbie comes back. No sense wasting carries on a guy when we have 4 guys capable of doing anything we need. Gonna be one back a year for next couple recruiting years.

Having RB's never hurts. Holtz teams and USC are good examples. Hell, Reggie Bush didn't even start until Desmond Reed got hurt. 5 deep can get pretty shallow really quick. RBs are usually athletic and can often change positions well, too.

Goshen made another great point about game breakers. They keep a defense honest, and provide a new depth to an offense. Remember the 10 years without any? It sucked.

I think we have more than enough room for Cyrus, and welcome him with open online arms.

Gamebreaker====Chris Stewart, don't get me wrong I would love to have Cyrus, but w/ Stewdog returnin kicks I don't know if Cyrus can get on the field.....In all seriousness I hope we land him, and if not hopefully he will be a jayhawk!

Guys,
I will have to disagree with taking another RB in this class. We will then have a very very difficult time getting even one in 2009. This class is very good and well stocked at all positions.

That doesn't seem to hurt USC, or the SEC teams with their DL.

They may not need one next year if they get both of these guys. Chances are one or both will "redshirt" next year anyway. Although I would still try to get at least one in each class.

Re: Louisville, they do have a very strong dental school if that is important as he says. However, they are loaded at RB (like ND) and just signed Darius Ashley, a stud RB out of Cincy St X.

So what, maybe there is no one in '09 that really wants to be Irish. My point is that you don't turn down talent because someone in the next class.

Remember what they say about birds its as simple as that.

Exactly, plus if there is talent to be had in this class, we take it. what happens come 09 and there may be a lot of good recruits, but that doesn't mean that we'll b able to get them

declining recruits because of the next year class is like a pro team losing games on purpose for that better draft pick. it's stupid.

Guys,
I hear what you are saying, but be cautious. To many bodies at one position may lend to a transfer or two. I am not gonna run off Cyrus, but we need to put our max effort on those positions of most need. OL and WR. We have a full boat at RB with Jonas and our current roster.

I say let him come in and if the worst of the 4 want to transfer more power to him!!! Competition is good for the team!!!!

Guys, read this from the High School Coach that beat Cyrus Grays team supposedly... You guys still think taking him is a bad idea...haha

Hey Guys,

I am a high school football coach in Texas, and my team just defeated DeSoto in the 2nd round of the class 5A playoffs. DeSoto's featured athlete is Cyrus Gray, whom I believe is an ND recruit. Let me tell you first hand...he is FOR REAL!!! In my ten years of coaching he is one of the best I've ever seen. He's one of those who has a rare combination of speed, power, and agility. Let's pray that he comes to ND!!!

Who on the team took it to the house this year when they had the chance, if this kid is someone that can do it and he wants to come here then ND can use him.

Ok, here's the latest I've heard on Cyrus. Apparently he seems to be fadding a little bit on ND. Not because of anthing that ND has done wrong, it's just that Cyrus really seems to want early PT in some way and with the emergance of ND's young RB's coupled with a recent commitment from Jonas Gray, and the apparent WR that ND will be bringing in has cause him to factor that into his desicion which is a smart thing if early PT is that important to you. Unlike so many who say that and then end up unhappy because they didn't pay attention, they just listened to the recruiting lies that some coaches spew. I just hope that if that's what he really wants that he doesn't buy into Urban's half truths.

FYI, he apparently told Jevan Sneed he was recruiting Tebow for LB, right...

That is too bad if he goes elsewhere, but that's probably better that he doesn't come if he would be unhappy. that would be bad for him and for us. bad because he would be unhappy and possibly transfer, bad for us for having another unhappy transfer.

ND still has a chance but they probably have some ground to make up to get him. The main problem here is ND talent and depth at the RB position. He'll be playing in the Offense-Denfense AA Bowl this Friday night.

Dont c how fla can even be a valid option for a stud running back, considering there rb's get a handfull of touches a game. You will be 3rd in line behind tebow and harvin

I'm sure Urban told him that he's going to move Tebow to linebacker in order to make Cyrus the feature back.

Well from what I heard he told him that he needed to find someone to come in right away and get a lot of carries so it'll take a lot of the pressure off of Tebow, and that Urban thinks Cyrus could be that guy.

I wonder if he told E.Moody the same thing?

Yeah no kidding!?! that's what gets me about Urban... do you have ANY soul at all... lying to some of these kids could seriously affect their future negatively... all coaches give the lines they need to get the kid they NEED in... but it seems from the outside Urabn says ANYTHING to get ANYBODY with no regard for anybody but number one... if it destorys a young man's future so be it.

often times you can't even say that for poodle or anyone else that I can see...

i don't know, am I way off base here??
