Carr reclassifying would still have to get through admissions correct?

If this scenario comes to fruition, this isn't the Notre Dame Football we grew up with and then some.

Regardless of it all, you know what eases my mind in all of this? Buchner being all he can be this fall. Period. He's the bird in hand.
I guess that’s why I’m a bit worried. I’m not sure I can say I feel the current bird in hand is enough of a proven commodity to ease my mind.

In regards to ND changing,… this isn’t the cfb world we all grew up with either,.. and ND had its share of challenges in THAT world. At some point they’ve got to roll with it right?

I don't know enough on Buchner to be confident that he's the guy. Brian Kelly being out of the picture gives me some optimism in that there is a fresh start at the top and that ends up being highly beneficial for Buchner.

ND came around to early enrollment under Weis, they've spent a lot of money upgrading the stadium. You'd think if a guy can reclassify and get in without issue, they'd let it happen.

Personally, I'm still the greedy bastard I've always been. I want Buchner to be awesome, I want them to sign Moore and sign Carr. There is no reason why all those things can't happen together and we start having nice things.

I just don't get the issue with reclassifying from ND's perspective. He either has the credits he needs or he doesn't.

I’m under the impression that this is correct. It doesn’t matter what his grade he’s in - if he checks the boxes, then he checks the boxes.

It's unprecedented at this point, isn't it? If you've been an ND fan for 60 minutes or 60 years, you're old enough to remember their admissions being somewhat fickle compared to the rest of the pack out there.

My question is what boxes are they looking to have checked in order for it to happen? At any rate, I'm sure that the football administration would have this vetted with admissions and the ducks are in a row if this is the route they go with Carr.

I'm cautious and skeptical until I see it done.

It’s pretty simple;

1) He has the HS credits already as a Junior because he received HS credits the year he was on his two mission trips before he actually entered HS.

2) ND has required prerequisites that need completed, not a certain number or test scores, GPA, etc…

Carr is in position to have all the prerequisites complete & his required credits for graduation after this school year.

Those two things allows him to pass through admissions regardless of all the other concerns.

Is that why he is a school year below his age?

Yeah, after his 8th grade year he took a year off to travel to Haiti & South America on two different missions. He accumulated HS credits while doing so because he was still home schooling.
Then the next year he enrolled in HS, but had all four years of eligibility for football.

That’s a cool thing to do. I like this kid.

Sinclair says that he's "optimistic" that Carr will reclassify.

I cant really tell one throwing motion from another so can we get a verdict now on whether this is a good motion or a "funky" motion.

It's quite a conventional motion as I've read. But then again analysts have been saying he doesn't have amazing arm strength either and that's not what I'm seeing, so what do they know. Man, he can zip it.

It’s unprecedented from a football standpoint but I knew a few people at ND who had graduated HS early, and probably like half the normal student body “could have” graduated HS early if they wanted to. It’s just about credits. If you took accelerated math and summer school there is absolutely no reason you can’t have all the credits you need done by your junior year of HS.

For example, I took 8 AP classes before attending ND and had almost a year worth of *college* credits before stepping foot on campus. A lot of normal ND students did something similar. You just gotta check the boxes for math, foreign language, etc. and have a diploma.

For sure. I’d say the vast majority of the undergraduates would not be able to get in by taking online classes and they’d need the extra year of AP classes and time to study for a near perfect ACT/SAT. Football is a major exception. I am just guessing but I am betting less than 5% of NDs football players would be accepted if it weren’t for football and I’d say probably 0%-1% of the non minority scholarship players. As an example, I remember someone stating that Ian Book had a 3.5 gpa in HS. Solid and bright kid that would never in a million years get into ND w/out sports. ND has nearly the same stats as Harvard for admissions. CJ would be quite unusual for a non glorified genius. Still rooting for it to happen.

I think that the arm strength questions are coming mostly from his Sophomore HS tape. And it definitely looks like that's improved significantly as he's gotten bigger, stronger, and developed physically.

Any word on whether Julian Sayin is still being recruited? Wouldn't that be the best indication?
I don't remember seeing anything on that front (yet). I would guess that they're waiting on a firm decision from Carr before they stop recruiting Dante and start recruiting their 24 targets again.
