A multi million $ NIL deal is far more life changing then a degree from ND, don't kid yourself. This whole notion that Moore has to go to ND to better his life is dumb.

With that said, I hope they still get Moore. I don't understand why Carr would change the narrative.
Agreed. No disrespect to those with an ND degree but NIL money is life changing. Elite QBs will easily make 1 mil plus in 3 years.
4 years at ND is Between 250-300k.
How many years does it take the average ND Grad to Get 1.25 mil? That's on the low side of projecting elite NIL money

My thinking is that when Moore made that mid week visit with the entire staff, he was there to commit. But he wanted to take OV's. ND doesn't allow OV's so they said, you take your visits, come back in June and make it public. You are our guy. Gentleman's agreement. But then he started talking about extending his recruitment through summer, then fall, than he isn't even visiting ND in June.

But reality is none of us know what really happened. They loved Arnold but he was all OU, they loved Vizinna but was leaning Clemson, Moore was their number 1 guy and they thought they had him. Recruiting is about relationships, and every relationship is different. It is easy to second guess from the sideline.
All this here. And especially the bold. I generally support the staff on this, and I’m not persuaded Vizzina, for instance, ever would have come here. Dante made the most sense for a long time.

But to me things started getting weird on this when Dante decided a 7v7 tournament was more important than our Whole Class Coming recruiting weekend, and then booked an OV to A&M the weekend after. I suspect the staff felt same and so now here we are.

There's not another '23 QB we've got a shot at who's remotely as good as Sayin, so I'd be confirming whether or not Carr can reclassify before I start scrambling for a depth piece.

'23 Carr + '24 Sayin >>> '24 Carr + whoever we'd settle on for '23.
Yep. This. Especially with ND being a prime QB transfer destination.

ISD pretty much shot down the reclassifying rumor. Said the 2nd source they spoke with about this rumor is someone that would definitely know the answer and they immediately said not happening. ND will need to find a '23 QB.

What a failure if true.

To be honest, some of us never liked this from beginning. I felt like I was pretty vocal about it. We saw this coming and talked about it at length. Yet, we were constantly reminded that Loy was confident or Sampson was confident, yada yada yada. All the while the red flags were apparent. This is undoubtedly a stain for the staff. Frustrating as it was completely avoidable. However, I do absolve them of some responsibility due to the fact they had to deal with such dishonest people.
Learned a long time ago that you need to be able to ask the tough questions (you ready to commit?) and not be afraid of the answer. Hopefully MF and staff will recognize this and learn to keep more lines in the water.

So you’re saying Carr is a different isle? I’m confused.
You were way too into the hottest chick in school. She was flirting with all the party boys, and talking about a guy she's seeing who's playing baseball in Texas (But he's really a backups backup at Blinn Community College who follows 4200 blondes on Instagram). She keeps promising to cut everyone off and go see Top Gun with you, but wont make concrete plans. Now she says she'll definitely start dating you when she comes back from her trip to Daytona Beach this summer (Dont say anything though, because shes told eveyone she's going to Cabo....she trusts you because your not like the other guys...). She not in the right headspace to commit to a long term relationship. Thats fine.

Do we simp? Fuck that.

So you start dating the cute, smart girl who everyone likes (Who everyone knows is going to be an absolute smokeshow when she gets older). She is likes going for hikes and seems committed to seeing where this relationship will go. You know you dont have to attend every party in town to impress her, you two can just chill on the couch in your sweats read a book and be happy. You focus on hitting the gym, being a good friend, doing well in school and becoming the best version of yourself that you can.

Good decision. Adult decision.

Lots can change in the future. You might even get a crying voicemail randomly at 4.40 am on a Sunday about how shes stuck in Florida and its skeezy and she just misses you, but thats a problem for future-hypothetical you.

You're doing good. Im proud of you.

Sometimes when you go big game hunting you bag the trophy and other times you come home talking about the one you shot, tracked, and didn’t come home with.

At least now we have time to fill our tags, even if it isn’t the largest trophy we’ve ever brought in. #ThrillOfTheHunt

Idk, I think in a couple weeks Bowden or Freeman might be sending a, you up? text when it’s clear there’s no other good 2023 options interested.

Hopefully we can finish strong at WR in this class despite a lot of uncertainty at the QB position in the class,

Everybody's saying Carr is at least as good if not slightly better than Moore. Hes a legit 5* and the only reason he's not on some services is because of his 24 classification.

Again... this is no sour grapes. But bagging a decent 4* or prospect in the 23 class, if Carr doesn't reclassify, will make this great.

Not sure why we wouldn't keep recruiting Dante if CJ isn't reclassifying. Don't understand this at all. How would it sour so quickly? Isn't ND in the lead with Dante?

Yep. Means the all in on Dante was a colossal mistake. If Rees bails for a head coaching job will Carr even stick? Who takes over for Buchner if he's done in 2 or gets hurt? A true freshman or Angeli? Is the staff even pursuing Avery Johnson or has that ship sailed? All questions without answers.
Chill out.
Step away from the ledge.
Just because the public doesn’t know doesn’t mean there isn’t answers. Or even questions.
I’m pretty sure ND staff knows if they are recruiting Avery Johnson.
And no human being ever could know if a kid will get hurt or not or what decision they will make two years from now.

Is it safe to say Dante got a little too Greedy and may end up costing himself?
I hope he is at least having regrets maybe taking some personal inventory.
But it is not really his fault it is the ND coaches that bought it.

Well, for what it's worth, Bryan Driskell still thinks Dante Moore will end up at Notre Dame.

Of course he does.

Same exact situation today under each coach & Driskell’s take:

BK: He messed this up. He sucks. He can’t do anything right.

MF: This is awesome. Everything is awesome. MF is a genius.

To be fair, he has said that even if they don’t get Dante that he supported the staff going all in on him.

Yet ND is the Devil for pulling back on an offer to a player who was recruited by the prior position coach.
So when the player jukes ND, that is just part of the game but when ND has a player that wont fit and identifies it, ND is heartless and classless.

I'll agree with that comment.
I want to swing for the fences. I don't want to shop down another aisle.
It sounds like the kid either silently or silently silently committed to the staff. Then, the dynamics have changed, the staff gave a couple of months for him to lock in, he hasn't, they're moving on.

I see nothing wrong here. They "had" their #1, they are not going to get the Keely's every time, but I want to try for them. I think the "you're our only guy" approach seemed like a great strategy. It clearly worked, until the dynamics (dad) changed that.

The funny thing is that the staff apparently went “all in” on Rodney Gallagher to be the slot WR in this class but were recruiting Christian Hamilton behind the scenes in case Gallagher went elsewhere. Driskell said he was told that Gallagher either gave a silent to the staff when he visited or gave the impression he was going to hop on board. When Gallagher committed to WVU they locked in a visit for Hamilton and it looks like we’re trending for him.

Ok but Driskell aside there *is* a difference. Freeman is approaching situations with correct effort and diligence, Kelly was farming everything out to subordinates on account of pure laziness.

Example:

There have been similar quotes from literally dozens of recruits.
