Criticize Brey for sitting Atkinson so long?

Or

Applaud Brey for (as the announcers said) inserting Atkinson on a hunch.

I admit I know next to nothing about Irish sports outside of football.

But Mike Brey should stay as long as he wants.

Hes a loveable and energizing motherfucker

Hes incredible and I love him

Desperation 3 that he missed by so much that it banked in. Classic March.
That may be intentional. He's hit a handful of desperation bombs this year that he banked in.

Give credit to the D for tightening up late in the game and into OT.

Finally saw a team that. fought for every loose ball and matched a physical team blow for blow.
One more like that guys, that’s all I ask.
Go Irish Happy St Patty’s indeed

Brey still regularly playing like 7 guys max? Havent followed them as much as Id like to have at this point
Yes, 7 on the dot haha

That was one of the best basketball games I've watched in a long while. Neither team wilting, both exchanging blows, it was something else.

I didn't mind Hubb's play at all until the OT periods...not sure if Brey told him to let it rip but idk how you go from not shooting all night to going trigger happy with horrible shot selection down the stretch. He made some nice plays and hit his FTs but man, those were killer, possession ending misses.

I really admire the way Atkinson, Nate and Cormac Ryan played, they really carried the squad and made some tough plays when we needed them. Thought Goodwin made some nice shots when his number got called, too. He had a quiet 12 points. I can't remember the last time an Irish big man played that efficiently on offense; every time he touched the ball I felt like he scored. Good for Paul. Cormac with some huge, huge buckets in the second half when we made our run.

Have to give Brey a lot of credit going to Wesley at the end of the first OT; the kid was obviously struggling under the bright lights all game but he knew when we needed a big time bucket all year, he's been our guy. You don't shy away from your bread and butter for 4 months in the biggest moment. He made a play when we absolutely needed it. I expect him to play better on Friday with this first tournament game under his belt (really, everyone's belts except Paul Atkinson with Yale in 2019).

That was fun. I couldn't sleep for 2 hours after the game. I love March. Go Irish!!

That was one of the most entertaining games ever. One of the coolest things about sports..Win or lose..It gives you the opportunity to hang out with your family and have something to cheer/talk about....Priceless. Glad to get the opportunity to do it at least one more time with this team! GO IRISH!

Great win. Atkinson played the game of his life last night. Despite Wesley’s struggles with shooting (even layups!), he made some key plays that led to 2OT win. Hopefully, he finds his rhythm tomorrow vs Bama. FT shooting was way off too. I’m guessing, in both cases, it was nerves b/c they’re usually better than that. Now that they’re officially in the 1st round of the NCAA Tourney, hopefully they can get back to their elite FT shooting & Wesley can find his shot.

Entertaining? Definitely

But this over Pitino will always be the most wild game of my life...5 OTs over Slick Rick...Also, RIP Cam

Yeah, FTs were awful and that's surprising. Agree it was likely nerves from the group's first tournament game because FTs are a staple of Mike Brey teams. I expect we'll be better Friday. Wesley has to be better next year from the FT line, plain and simple. Idk how such a talented player and solid shooter shoots ~65% from the stripe, it's all mental.

Entertaining? Definitely

I agree, this game will probably always take the cake for me. Idk how you can top that....

If we hung on down the stretch against Kentucky in the Elite 8, maybe that wins.

Atkinson was balls all night long. As athletic as Rutgers guy was, he was still beating him like a drum on offense.

Wesley's at 40.4% FGs and 64.6 FTs for the year so last night wasn't really new as far as his shooting goes. Its pretty bad. The strange thing is he's terrible around the rim; if he's not dunking he's missing and has more shots blocked than anyone I can remember.

Don't know if there's a short term fix for what ails his shot. But hitting the glass because they leave you to block his shot is working.

ND is in desperate need of big men that can dominate the paint, there rebounding is terrible.

It's like everyone is told not to jump for them. Crazy amount of times they are in perfect position and get it snatched away.

Well didn’t expect to turn the ball over 11 times in the first half and be up 5. Can’t expect to shoot that well again but also not turnover as much.

Yep, just clean up the dumb turnovers and they'll have a great shot at it.
