2023 Projected Roster Scholarships: 17
Obviously of the 17 I think Patterson, Dirksen and probably 1-2 more are not here by 2023. Either way though, I think it'll be a small OLine class for the new OLine coach. Whether that's Hiestand or anyone else idk. Kadyn Proctor is the icing if there's a recruiting cake at OLine and I think from the visits it looks like an Iowa, Iowa St, ND battle but there's 9 of the best programs in the country also in his top 12 so it'll be tough. The big victory is the 2 visits already and hopefully by the time he's deciding he's taken 3-4 visits to ND. Samson Okunlola seemed like a fit with his high academic offers but that seems to have gone no where. Actually similar story to TJ Shanahan. Both don't seem to have gone anywhere. Chase Bisontis is a huge one. He played games on saturdays for the most part so he wasn't around in the fall. From what I've read seems like a classic ND, PSU, OSU battle and Rutgers as the local addition. Would be a huge win to get him. Cayden Green is another one I think ND's got a shot at but needs a visit for sure and has an OU CB from Lincoln Riley's time. Sewell visited but I don't think he's leaving the state of Texas. Same with Markis Deal. Charles Jagusah is an interesting one because I've heard all of the right things and I think Loy is ready to CB him almost. Guy could be a visit away with the new OL coach from signing up. Monroe Freeling is another one that I think absolutely loves ND so I really hope the staff stays aggressively on him so he doesn't end up being lured to Clemson or some SEC school while ND is changing OLine coaches. Obviously ND has some more guys to mention like Siereveld, Keenum and Absher who are all interesting prospects and probably not rated because of not a lot of film. For now, I really hope ND goes all in on Proctor, Bisontis, Green, Jagusah, and Freeling and takes as many as want in for this group (hopefully 3 but if Proctor wants in you aren't turning a 1st Round Pick away).
An additional note for some guys that haven't been offered yet.
.9614 4* Madden Sanker - GA - FAR - Never Visited - not the worst thing to take some shorter OC/OG guys who are super talented. Also has Duke/Vandy offers
.9451 4* Olaus Alinen - FINLAND - FAR - Never Visited - Stanford offer and a BIG dude. Curious why ND isn't joining the party for him
.9237 4* Luke Brown - TN - 7h30m - Never Visited - Vandy/UVA offers. Don't know much about him other than a 4* with good books.
Whatever happens for 2023 in the OLine class I think the expectations can be pretty high and I think ND is in position to deliver on those high expectations because I think Quinn put ND in a good spot with a bunch of guys. Hopefully if it is Hiestand there is a plan in place to let him be the most effective recruiter he can be while having safety nets of a strong Asst OL coach recruiter or OC recruiter to make sure there's no lapse in communication with some of these recruits. Also, ND is at the healthiest it's been in forever in terms of depth, numbers, and talent at OLine while also being the best the program has been since Holtz was here in terms of winning. So all in all I think if Hiestand is the guy I think he'll be fine. At least I hope so!
