That's amazing. Much more effective because none of the guys mentioned appeared in this episode. Felt like it was leading up to a hilarious Botelho cameo at the end.

Botelho in a giant duck costume? It would be on point for Halloween. Someone could also edit in 100 duck sized Botelhos

Based on the rumblings at II over the past few weeks, there could be many more transfers still. Getting to 85 will not be a problem.

The way too early rankings for next year have begun. ESPN.com has Notre Dame at # 6 according to Mark Schlabachmusic.

https://www.espn.com/college-footba...he-2022-way-too-early-college-football-top-25

6. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

2021 record: 11-2
Starters expected to return: 7 offense, 7 defense, 1 special teams
Key starters expected to leave: S Kyle Hamilton, RB Kyren Williams, G Cain Madden, QB Jack Coan, NG Kurt Hinish, DE Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa, LB Drew White
Key additions: LB Jaylen Sneed, WR Tobias Merriweather, CB Jaden Mickey, DE Tyson Ford, ILB Niuafe Tuihalamaka, OT Aamil Wagner, S Brandon Joseph

Outlook: The start of the Marcus Freeman era didn't go off as planned, as Notre Dame blew a 21-point lead in a 37-35 loss to Oklahoma State in the PlayStation Fiesta Bowl. The former defensive coordinator will grow into the position, but it's hard to ignore his energy and desire to upgrade recruiting. The defense got a boost with junior end Isaiah Foskey deciding to return, along with fifth-year seniors Jayson Ademilola and Justin Ademilola. Joseph, an All-American at Northwestern in 2020, has had nine interceptions the past two seasons. Center Jarrett Patterson also hasn't announced his future plans. With Coan departing, Drew Pyne and Tyler Buchner will battle for the quarterback job this spring. The offensive line should be better, especially after freshmen Joe Alt and Blake Fisher emerged as the starting tackles. The Irish will play road games against Ohio State, North Carolina, Syracuse and Southern California in 2022.

11-1 with a loss at OSU and a win over Clemson should get us in to the playoff. Probably a lot to ask a 1st year head coach & QB, but all of the other pieces are there. USC with Caleb Williams isn't going to be easy although they still do need to build a ton in the trenches.

I expect Bama & OSU to be the definitive 1 and 2 next year with UGA losing a lot on defense.

I think I remember when watching the UGA-Clemson game to start the season that Herbstreit or Fowler said UGA only had 4 starters back on D this year. If true, that's scary what they can be capable of annually. Anybody know is it's true?

I didn't know where else to put this, but I figured others would be interested.

Notre Dame's endowment rose more than 50% over the last fiscal year (ending June 30th), increasing the endowment by $7 billion to a total value of $20.3 billion.

No wonder they were okay letting Freeman use the private jet! /s

Just met with a wealthy alum who donated $250k to ND via a charitable remainder uni-trust recently. He gets a guaranteed 6% income off it every year, which scales up as the endowment grows. His initial gift has already grown to ~$440k within the trust.

Plus making a gift like that gets you VIP treatment from the University for the rest of your life. Box seats, sideline passes, tickets to any game you could ever want to go to, etc.

wow that's impressive. the stock market was probably up about half that
1 Year Returns
ND Endowment: 53.2%
Strategic Policy Portfolio: 28.3%
TUCS Large Fund Median: 26.4%
60% Equity/40% Bond: 23.1%

"Notre Dame Endowment Pool returns are net of investment managers’ fees. The Strategic Policy Portfolio is Notre Dame’s internal benchmark
relative to the target investment portfolio. The Trust Universe Comparison Service (TUCS) Large Fund Median is a compilation of returns
of endowment, pension, and foundation investors greater than $1 billion and thus provides a basis for comparison to the performance of large
institutional investors generally. The 60/40 mix is an index blend of stocks/bonds as represented by the MSCI All Country World Investable Index
and the Barclays Capital US Aggregate Bond Index and thus is a measure of performance compared to a more traditional or retail portfolio."

Don't bet on that. ND likes money, they'll try and squeeze the blood from a stone every now and then. 5 years ago the campus started requiring the gold seats contribute extra donations on top of what they were already giving. My family has a scholarship trust setup on campus, in addition to a room dedicated to the family in the Science building after a large gift prior to construction. In any case, despite their normal donations and other contributions, the university was trying to squeeze them for more or give up their seats of 20 years going back to the first stadium expansion. This wasn't just our family, the LaBars (Practice field) told us they were getting hit with it too. It became a "What have you done for me lately?" kind of scenario and so Gramps told them to kick rocks. Gave up the seats, we opted to buy individual games instead for a few years. The kicker was this was the same season Georgia came to town, and of course Dawg fans ended up in the seats. Nice job, ND!

Now...part of this may have been because my grandfather's previous university rep of many decades retired and they put him with some "kid" that seemed a bit rude. They really didn't like the guy, and there may have been some communication issues on his part that contributed to the sour relationship. In any case, this last season the university transferred him to another lady who has been much cooler and talked him into coming back. Irish#1 and arndtjc sat with me for the Cinci game this year down in the gold seats again...too bad we couldn't bring a win home

So this means they will stop hitting middle class season ticket holders with the “donation” charge each year, right?

Not holding my breath unfortunately.

Also, charitable remainder trusts (CRTs) have to be money for these top universities and their big donors. I wonder if they actively educate/push donors for these ideas. We use them every blue moon with our HNW that don’t have any children to leave legacies to.

I'll eat my words I'm sure, but losing Lawerence quickly put us right at par with Clemson. Toss up game imo.
