I can’t get mad at a guy for taking a promotion, but man I wish this off-season would end and it’s barely started. It’s been one thing after another.

Do we like Al Golden as DC?

McNulty has had it easy with the TE's he's had to coach. If he goes, the TE coaching position should be easy an sell to get the right Freeman type of coach in.

Id think it might be a bigger concern Golden has stock up and waits out NFL offers than that he can’t interview over the next two weeks.

McNulty has been off the trail the past few days so if he’s gone to BC, Rees will have all new assistants on staff in 2022.

So no Brian Kelly or Brian Kelly lieutenants "holding him back"?

Far out.

Singer said he was wrong on that I believe. Still expect him gone but he was on campus this weekend for the visits

He's oc at Kentucky isn't he? Don't see him giving that up to be a tight ends coach only

He's making $900K a year at UK, too, so if' you're going to get him to coach TE at ND you'd better come correct with the cash.

McNulty didn't care for BK. He wasn't a BK lieutenant but ND can do equal from a coaching standpoint and better from a recruiting standpoint.

I know he has a reputation as an elite recruiter. What tight ends has he developed along the way since he was HC at Minnesota?

It's a little hard to pin TE production to the TE coach. But, the two names that come to mind for Brewster are Kyle Pitts at UF and Nick O'Leary at FSU.

More importantly though, he was sought after by some top tier coaches.....Jimbo Fisher, Mack Brown, Dan Mullen (hot name at the time he jumped to him lol). He would be a great addition if it is even possible.

Yes I like him. I like Joe Rossi and Todd Belk too. Just NO Chris Ash for me. I think any of the other names being considered will be successful at ND including Golden.

Brewster would be a homerun. There isn't a better recruiter on this planet.

How funny is it a month and a half ago it felt like a coup to retain almost every coach under BK outside of the ones we weren't interested in keeping...none of them really wanting to follow BK to Baton Rouge. Now almost every coach has bolted for other positions (Although they've all been steps up outside of Elston). I'm glad those guys are doing better for themselves, it's just wild.

Seriously. The only holdovers now are Rees, Mickens, and O'Leary. Is that it?
At the time, "stability" was a significant part of the argument for promoting MF, and - while a lot of this isn't "fault," and I'm fairly confident the new coaches will be upgrades in many/most cases - "stability" ain't this.

Kyle Pitts, Florida: 2018-2020
Tim Brewster, Florida: 2020-2021

They intersected for one season, and it was 2020 for 8 games. Pitts had a good 2019 the year prior. Tough to say where Brewster fits in with regards to that, but he could potentially get Mayer for one season if he came to ND. Looks good in the media guide that he coached Pitts and Mayer.

He's going on 62 and has been around, so on the one hand he'd be in the room with Hiestand as the steady guide, but it's not like the program is in dire need of a recruiter for the tight end position. It would certainly be interesting, provided he would want to stick around for a bit.
