If Jon Heacock is the guy for DC and he wants to bring his d-line coach Eli Rasheed over I’d be okay with Marcus Freeman giving him a look.

He’s got a good resume. Generally good against the run, sack numbers pretty decent considering it’s Iowa State.

Okay haha? Did I owe you a book report?

I mean, you make a statement that you have to have NFL development on a resume from the next coach, I ask you to drop some names, you post an article I read a half hour ago.

Who do YOU like?

Side note, Charlie Partridge is on this list. That would be some kind of hire. He's been adamant about not leaving Pitt and was being mentioned for some recent openings, but as we've seen with college coaches, things change fast. I think he got a raw deal at FAU when he was HC. He got three years and it wasn't enough time. Kiffin enjoyed the fruits of their labor after CP got let go.

I’m not pretending to have exhaustively searched names so I instead linked the article I had read that I knew had some good ones. I didn’t think the opinion I offered was too forward that it required turning in my list to you this quickly and was just trying to provide A LIST I knew existed.

As for a DL coach... some may 'turn up a nose' or 'throw some backlash' at me... but get Zorich in there to coach the DL... if ANYBODY here in this forum has watched Zorich break down defenses and offenses, listened/watched his pod-casts, knows what is expected out of a D-Line (especially at ND), I think he would be a great DL coach.

IF you believe me wrong (I don't want to hear not all players would make a great coach) I would like to hear reasons why Zorich wouldn't be someone that wouldn't be considered given his experience on all he's done on what I've stated.

Everything isn't a referendum on ND.

This is a 60 something year old who is very comfortable in his current low profile, low pressure gig (who also reportedly just got a big raise to convince him to stay). He probably didn't want to start over under the biggest microscope in all of CFB, while bringing none of his staff along.

He has turned down many suitors over the years.

On to Mason or Belk. I actually preferred either of them over Heacock anyway because they are recruiting dogs and Heacock is definitely not.

Being a good college football coach isn't something that just happens because you are football savvy. You first have to know if you even want to be a college football coach and Zorich himself has no idea if he wants to be one. At one point, Bryant Young thought he wanted to be a college football coach... and then decided he didn't after giving it a try.

Until Zorich actually tries coaching he has no idea if he'll like it. That's why almost all of them start as GAs first, or analysts now that analysts are common. They don't start out as position coaches at the highest level right off the bat. Bad idea.

This would likely rule Zorich out.

Didn't know you had the expertise...

I'm sure there maybe other names possible, but those are just what they are naming currently.

Yep... like taking the last girl that's available for Prom.... I agree with 'ya... let's just sit back and relax and see what happens or who becomes available.

Hell, us Titans fans NEVER would have thought Vrabel was the answer to the Titans... Look where he is now.
