Contested cause the dude's 5'10" and can't run away from a single CB in the state of Indiana.

I said yesterday there are very few good football players not signed post ESD for non-red flag reasons. If it’s true his only holdup is being cautious about Walt Bell as OC, there isn’t many better players in the country available than Cooper at WR, and he’s right in Indiana.

Then they should survive and advance with a lot of Austin, Lenzy, Joe Wilkins, Styles, Thomas, Colzie, and Merriweather if they cannot get a portal WR. And address heavily in 2023.

This is the most unimpressive WR film I've seen, not sure how to say it nicely.

Forget Davis, Austin, Lenzy, and Wilkins for the time being. You’re not signing a WR for PT in the 2022 season at this point.

2023:

Thomas, Colzie, Styles, Merriweather. That’s the list. Most FR aren’t going to compete for real PT from the 2023 class. You can’t even fill out a 2 deep with that. Someone of Cooper’s ability certainly provided stability so we aren’t wondering which walk-on gets on the field in the event of injury. I’d be shocked if they could land 2 undergrad transfers better than Cooper which is what would be needed to stabilize the depth chart.

You guys are crazy. You realize we need more than just 5 receivers right? Am I’m not even talking about in case of injuries but fatigue, possible suspension even if it’s just a game due to targeting. Not to mention we need to fill the scout team for practice.

We lost 3 of our projected commits, so we’re already heading towards the portal in desperation. I’m not saying just give anyone a scholarship but, hell, this guy, even that baseball player going to NW I’d throw an offer at.

We'll have 2 more WRs playing in 2022 than we had this year. Jayden Thomas should be able to actually play along with Joe Wilkins Jr.

Anything from Merriweather/Colzie is icing on the cake. It's a problem in 2023, not 2022.

Not sure I’d count on all of Austin, Lenny, and Wilkins to stay healthy since it hasn’t happened yet.

So just F the future? You need bodies. You can't rely on everyone being healthy, not transferring, not getting covid, whatever else.

Who's going to transfer when there's mandatory playing time if you have two legs? 95% of transfers are playing time related. We're far more likely to get transfers in at WR than out.

And take another WR, sure, but not a small guy who can't outrun anyone. Total BK move.

For anyone dogging his competition, he only plays in the best football conference in the state of Indiana, competing against at least three of the best teams in the Midwest on a yearly basis.

Thought the total BK move was 6-4 guy who doesn't produce until senior year?

And check out his So/Jr. season film when he had the McCaully kid at QB who's now at IU.

Everyone is being real flippant about the chance that Austin is done with school and ready to have a crack at the NFL, 7th round or NDFA he doesnt care. I think that he believes he has the athletic ability to stick it on a roster and has enough film to get in the door after this year.

Look at the depth. Any unsigned WR or anyone in the portal needs a call. It looks dire, especially if some transfer. Mayer or Bauman are gonna see the slot a lot lol

I mean fuck it, everybody, may as well see if the staff can petition the ncaa to see if Bruce Hegge can get another year of eligibility and play WR for the Irish next year!

WR was actually the natural position for Heggie the Bruce due to his blinding speed. But he didn't feel that was sporting, so he tried his hand at OL instead.

I’m not sure if you and I are watching the same
film. Which film are you watching to come up with your evaluation of his play? Serious question as I am not seeing the same things you are if we are indeed watching the same film.

I saw separation on majority of his highlights. Seems like most of the time the corners are playing like 10 yards off the line on him, which means they respect his speed. He seems to easily be the best athlete on the field. I saw him erase DB angles with his speed on some of the highlights of run after the catch. As other have mentioned he high points the ball very well and seems to have good hands.

Granted he is a composite 3 star, 3 star on 247 and ESPN. But Rivals has him ranked as a 4 star #155 overall with a 5.9 rating. So some people in the recruiting industry think very highly of him.

IMO (which doesn’t mean crap) Omar Cooper is 100% a take right now. In all honesty he should have been a 100% take as the 4th WR in this 2022 class even if Walker and Williams had stuck.

Is Omar going to be a superstar? Probably not. Can he be a contributor like Joe Wilkins or produce better? Absolutely.

Or more so, is just a blocking WR to help telegraph the ensuing run play.

But when it was Claypool, McKinley & Tremble... the D knew it was coming and it was going for 7+ yds.

Navy woulda won a natty with those 3. Italics?

BTW... I forgot to mention yesterday that Cooper had an ACL. His stats were off considerably as a Sr but he didn't have McCaually passing him the ball either.

The last time ND needed WR bodies like this they passed on this kid because he was coming off an ACL and he's had a nice 1700+ / 12 TD career as a #2 receiver for Fleck. I'd be ok if ND tampered and got him to GT in.

After watching his junior film I think he is an adequate take given our circumstances. He has good hands, change of direction and decent route running. Can line up all over and is a willing blocker. I'd say he is a high floor, low ceiling WR. Total take at this point IMO.
