“I have a family I’m worried about. Sorry I can’t piss and moan about this with you…”. Fun stuff

Someone should drop a link to our Brian Kelly Revisited thread over there.

On one hand, it would be great for business...

On the other hand, we're risking the dregs of LSU's fan base trying to make a home here, because they will undoubtedly find that they like us and will want to stay and converse.

But can our resident Bama fans handle their rivals being here too??? Bishop2b5 T Town Tommy

There's an episode of the X-Files where they investigate an arctic base where everyone died from these parasitic worms. When the characters started to contract these worms, Scully and Mulder realize that the ultimate solution is actually to expose the victim to MORE worms---they're territorial and kill each other. Ultimately, this keeps our heroes from dying and feels like a potentially decent analogy for this situation.

Meh. Not sure what the numbers say but given we out recruit 90% of our opponents, I always felt our field position sucks and we give up more yards than we take on kicks and punts. Michigan under Harbaugh has always had great ST's, say what you want about them. I want a ST like that.

The writing was on the wall with Polian and Quinn. We knew they wouldn't be back (and I think most of us were ok/happy with that).

The question is still Del because allegedly all three of the WR commits are up in the air still, and all of them like Del.

How do you judge Del's on the field performance when the QB play has been so bad this year?

I think he's good enough to keep in recruiting, not great. But you try to recruit WRs when OSU/Oklahoma/USC/Alabama, etc., are all having elite QBs year after year who throw for 400 yards in every big game. Good luck getting WRs to come here when we constantly put out noodle armed QBs with recognition issues.

Listening and reading to Freeman - I hope he goes and gets a DIV-II DC (He probably knows a few) and make them the ST's/? coach. Find the best one you can lure to ND and have the same mentality Freeman is pushing. Guaranteed he could find one equal or even better than what the Irish has had with Polian. Waaaay to many fair-catches for the speed the Irish have and have had in the past 5-6 years not to have a solid return dept.

I think much of the doubts of Del stem from the exodus of WR''s out of the program and, until this year, when they literally had no other choice, underclassmen could never seem to get on the field.

Is that Del's fault? I don't know. But it's at least worthy of some doubt regarding him.

You make a good point. Certainly harder to recruit elite WR's when you don't have elite QB's and run an offense that isn't lighting up the scoreboard.

I kinda like this type of idea. Or some type of successful HS coach out there. The end result should at least be a guy hungry to recruit, prove he's worthy, and make his mark in major college football . Plus, you get the advantage of having a seasoned, experienced coordinator/HC on staff.

Even before this year the Wr's have a hard time winning battles off the line.

BK's inability to lure away any assistants from ND has placed himself in a difficult place where he has no choice but to prioritize filling assistant coaching slots before all the good candidates are picked over.

I wonder if it makes potential assistant coaching candidates to pause and ask themselves, "Wonder why none of his assistant coaches are following him, maybe that's a bad sign"
