That makes me sick to my stomach

Lemming said he asked Chase Young's HS coach, who he has been friends with for 40 years, why Chase didn't go to ND. The coach said because BK never came by the school and he only sent his assistant coaches, meanwhile Urban was there all the time, even just to shake hands and talk to the HS coaches. Lemming also said that if BK had just shown up to the catholic schools that produced tons of prospects (particularly in CA, NJ, and the DMV) they would've gotten a lot more kids.

90% of success is showing the F up.

Remarkably, the last time Notre Dame lost as a betting favorite was in 2017 at Stanford - and even that was a 3 point spread. Hope the fan base can be understanding if we drop one we shouldn't next year.

Clemson is losing their DC and USC is not going to turn around everything in a year. But its a tough schedule for sure; 9-3 would be great for a first-year first-year HC.

Worst case is 6-6, best case is 12-0 (yes I think both are the borders of what’s at least possible)… something right in the middle like 8-4 is most probable imo. It’s a difficult schedule and a lot of new moving pieces/unknowns…

I think we should wait til the off season is here and all the coaching positions are filled before we start making predictions.

Exactly. I understand being skeptical of our ability to go into Columbus and win with Buchner in Game 1, but Swinney and Riley have a lot of work to do. Both of their teams looked like garbage this year, and there's no guarantee they'll make a huge jump in 2022.

If i'm a Tiger or Trojan fan, ND's continuity should be pretty scary.

i wonder if tommy reese will call offensive plays from the booth or the field for the bowl game. this year you had TR in the booth and BK on the field to take care of any offensive concerns. no that BK is gone who's going to address offensive concerns from the sideline with TR in the booth?

Lance Taylor is on the field and technically has a "coordinator" title, so he would likely just take a slightly larger role on gamedays.

this is probably what scares me the most learning on the job. i'd also be like to know how involved he'll be in the offensive game plan and in game decisions on offense, specially for a guy who's spent his entire life on defense.

Pete Sampson has repeated that Freeman does not become head coach without Rees staying. I think the plan is that Rees' role is going to be significantly larger than before.

im going to wait and see, i like MF but im very nervous to see how this goes he still has a lot to learn.

I agree that he has a lot to learn. I don't expect him to be perfect out of the gate. Yet listening to him you know he's bright enough and without the ego of some to listen and learn from others.

Marcus Freeman enters stage left and storms into the QB recruit's house without knocking. He abruptly places Jim Harbaugh, who is currently visiting the country's top QB recruit and his family, into a headlock. Harbaugh immediately faints with glee as he clearly enjoys being asphyxiated...usually by inferior men.

"You can sign spend four years learning to sit and pee with this loser", pointing to Harbaugh's limp figure lying in the fetal position, "or you can grow a pair like these at Notre Dame."

Freeman swiftly clears the family's keepsakes off the coffee table and places his nuts on it.

In a moment of clarity, the top QB recruit realizes the error of his ways and, nearly weeping and fighting back his embarrassment, looks up at Marcus Freeman.

Faintly, "I'm not throwing away my shot" from Hamilton can be heard in the distance, but sung by someone with more testosterone than Lin-Manual Miranda, who has a female name.

The top QB recruit looks Freeman in the eyes and says, "Coach Freeman, teach me to be a QB and a warrior."

Freeman meets the recruit's eyes and replies, "Son, sign right here."

The QB recruit immediately signs his LOI and climbs into the Notre Dame helicopter, and is whisked back to South Bend where he will deliver upon Beano Cook's prophecy of two Heisman trophies.

A spotlight shines on Harbaugh. He is still laying lifeless on the living room floor, he has both urinated and deficated his khakis. Upon closer observation, it is clear from the residual stain marks on his pants that this is a frequent occurrence for Harbaugh.

The QB recruit's 10 year old sister can be seen kicking Harbaugh's head repeatedly as the lights fade to black.

/Scene

There is something peaceful about sitting to pee from time to time.

lol we ever do a band entrance for a coach before? I love building this hire up but seems a bit corny.

Clemson isn’t gonna be better next year. There’s a reason Venables left when he did considering the amount of jobs he’s been linked in the past. That defense is going to lose a ton of their top talent and leaders and may be replacing as many as 9 starters depending on the draft.

I mean I’m just spit balling my instincts like everyone else but okay,… Osu, byu, usc, Clemson, UNC, Syracuse, BC are losable only if almost everything goes wrong… I figure they can’t lose ALL of them,… so I see the worst case as 6-6 ( I expect it about as much as I expect 12-0)

Osu, byu, usc, Clemson, UNC, Syracuse… of course this is only if all goes wrong

I think we're being very generous to SC and Clemson given our program is arguably in a better place than both of them for reasons other posters have mentioned. I do see OSU as a loss. No way in hell is UNC, who couldn't beat us WITH Howell, going to beat us without him. Syracuse? Come on. BYU is intriguing. I dunno, I think the floor is 8 wins, likely looking at 10 though.

Clemson has some negative trends but the best recruiting class in their history will be juniors next season. Even without Venables I think that defense is going to be stout.

And it's hard to see the offense being worse than the 2021 version.

Right. It would be nice to win at least one of OSU/Clemson/USC.

i agree. 9-3 would be a solid showing and should also be the median. i think we beat sc and maybe clemson. hard to tell what this offseason is gonna do to that team. it's a good year for us to play a team like osu since it's doubtful we go undefeated anyway.

Clemson was trash this year, are losing their AD and both coordinators and have 13 commits in their current class. They haven't been shit in the Dabo era w/o Lawrence or Watson.

Spare me the fear of losing to lil ol Clempson

Clemson is currently a PK with Iowa St in their bowl game, if looking for further betting expectation. We absolutely should expect to beat Clemson at home unless DJU does a 180 over the summer which he certainly could, just not going to expect it.

You guys are seriously penciling us in for losses against all three opponents who have talent comparable to ours? FOH with that low T mentality.

We have better culture and continuity than Clemson and SC. The Trojans especially will still be Charmin soft.

Clemson was 9-3 this year, far from trash. Definitely winnable but still going to be a tough game.
