Reports from this last week are that Sean Peyton's time at NO is potentially over and there's interest in bears job. Ryan Day to Chicago is no given

Sean Peyton makes nearly $10M a year. The negotiations with the Bears would surely be interesting with that being said.

Yeah and hes too good for the bears to seriously consider him if it were an option. I suspect they will hire the wrong guy regardless of who it is :D

No other reason other than he played there.

I would not consider Manny Diaz for DC at Notre Dame, as I am sure will be suggested.

Cristobal's mom lives in Miami and is very ill. Apparently, she had an emergency incident recently and he had to leave during the season to go see her.

Not just played there. Cuban American from Miami. Father was political prisoner in Cuba. Believe brother is a long time cop in Dade county. Just every way you look is a Miami guy.

Norvell to Colorado State. He is a good coach, but what does Tony Alford have to do to get a shot?

I'd say so. Considering defense is an afterthought in the BIg12, he can just focus on other things than what he is actually good at.

The thing is though if he can play above average defense and hire good OC nothing changes for OU. They will the championship almost every year.

I'm sure OU is thinking SEC, not BIG 12. They looked thrilled in Norman over the Venables hire.

Yeah I guess so if they plan on keeping him till they move, but his success at Clemson was really their elite DL and backend talent. I think his scheme has been figured out pretty well by the ACC coaches and ND. BK didnt seem to worried abut scoring points, rather stopping their offense from scoring.

So where does Oregon go? Is Matt Campbell a fit? Do you hope that Chris Peterson wants to unretire?

Not in the SEC they wont. Ive been told many SEC teams have elite defenses and yet the scoring continues to go on.

Become white and get fired from at least one other job. Best guess, though.

It isn't going to happen for him. Needs to look elsewhere.

Oregon loses HC and OC. Clemson loses AD, DC and Elliott is said to be in the running for UVA and or Duke. Some serious reboots happening to some pretty big players.

Yeah, let's make it a race thing and ignore the fact that he's never even been an offensive coordinator anywhere...

Oh, now I get it. It's a great point, but guys like Dabo and PJ Fleck were hired without coordinator experience. Dabo was promoted from interim and Fleck took at WMU job that I doubt anyone wanted (Mora at UConn?).

CSU hiring Norvell from Nevada this quick means they probably didn't even interview anyone, white or black. This was probably set up via back channels for weeks.

Just going with where the numbers trend.

No doubt some have been promoted to HC from position coach, but how many of them were A) successful and B) from an outside program? Not saying Alford can't be a great HC. He's got personality for days, but Etsy do we know other than that and his ability to coach up RBs? It's a hella risky move and I just don't think race has anything to do with it.

Why on earth would you leave Oregon for Miami?

From there. Played for Miami and it's been reported his mom isn't in the best of health.

Edit: Posted before I read the next page. Wasn't piling on Cack. lol

I completely forgot about that. Players like the sec so maybe that helps him recruit. We shall see.

It is interesting that OU, soon to be moving to the SEC, is the job that finally got Venables to make the jump to being a head coach. Financial security aside, that could prove to be a tough gig down the line here more than ever before.

Perhaps there is something these programs feel prevents Tony Alford from leading a college G5 program like Colorado State. Same with Eric Bienemy in the NFL.

Alford has coached alongside Super Bowl winning OC Charlie Weis, Brian Kelly, Urban Meyer and Ryan Day. He may not have picked up anything along the way that makes him an attractive candidate to his own alma mater.

Going from Nevada to Colorado State for Norvell is interesting. He's losing the QB1 to the NFL, though.

Freeman, Elliott and Poindexter must have all became white then?

ND could be the Oklahoma of the ACC for the next decade, think about it...

It's worth noting that not even Oklahoma is "the Oklahoma" of the Big-12 right now. Turns out that being the bully program in a weak conference is not a reliable way to win championships.

PJ Fleck is one of the most unique hires, ever, really. If you’re following numbers, I’d say HC hire has HC/OC/DC experience is heavily favored by the numbers trend.
