Interesting stat from yesterday's Stanf-Cal game. Stanf ran 69 plays for 282 yards and 21 first downs. Cal ran 63 plays for 636 yards and 22 first downs.

Stanford can move the ball but it really doesn't matter if you give up 70 yard plays because you miss tackles.

69 plays for 282 yards is barely over 4 yards per play. That is the OPPOSITE of moving the ball.

Stanford is actually quite terrible at moving the ball, only averaging about 5 yards per play, ranked 97th in the country.

It's been a huge issue for them all year. Can't run the ball, can't stop the run.

Stanford's defense:

94th in points allowed per game (30.3)

127th in rushing yards allowed per game (230.7)

Williams and Diggs are gonna eat.

To be fair, their pass defense is in the Top 25, but it seems most teams just don't throw that much against them.

Offensively, they rank 119th in YPG, are below average in passing yards per game, and are 124th in rushing yards per game. They give up a lot of sacks too, similarily to ND's numbers.

I love all of this, but ND has had some weird demons on the Farm over the years. Glad we finally got over that losing streak in '19.

Hopefully the boys are prepared for the long trip and take care of business. It wouldn't look good winning by one score on the national stage, especially with the possibility of a one-loss Big 12 Champ in our rear-view mirror.

Grimes caught that ball, should've been a TD.

A huge bonus to last weekend should be rest. Game snaps were down across the board compared to averages but we also were able to play a lot of reserves. So, we should be fresh heading out West.

I'd say leave him on the tarmac, but they play at home....maybe have his car towed?

tbh....this game is starting to be type of game that needs to be played on a neutral field home game situation like we do with navy. There is nobody at these games every year when we're out there. start playing them in an NFL stadium or something.

I see this being a blowout. Too much on the line for our lads to lay an egg. The culture and mindset of the program also say this should be a thumping.

This is what I envision happening.

My hope is something more along the lines of a Fargo-esque ending for Stanford and DS lol

What good would that do? ND fans can buy tickets either way. They can go to Stanford as easily as the could go to Levi's or wherever. And why would Stanford move a home game? This will be one of their better crowds.

Same could be said about Navy, but we do it anyway. Believe we've done it for Wake Forest before as well.

This will be the first starting QB ND has faced since 1H of Navy game. If McKee can get some time, he has some good WR/TE to throw to. I suspect they keep it closer than the last three opponents unless they just quit. Judging by their performance vs an even bigger rival (CAL) that may be the case.

They won't quit. It's up to us to make them quit. Tree has zero to lose and Shaw will be looking to salvage something. I want nothing more than to wipe that smug look off his face.

yeah but its a dink and dunk passing attack. They'll have trouble in the red zone and will kick field goals while we score TD's. Even if they show up motivated, which is subject to debate, they can't cover up for a bad defense.

Watched the 2019 replay.... Expect to see a lot of fades of they get in the red zone. That team is similar to this one and that seemed to be their only answer which is what I expect this year as well. Hoping they don't get many red zone chances
