I'm sorry that my pulling for a midwest team(in the absence of ND)against the SEC stranglehold on CFB triggers you. Sorry. I refuse to pull for Alabama, Georgia, LSU, etc.

ill pull for the midwest team that plays weather games and actually plays a real non conference schedule. Ohio State isn't even a rival of ND.

I’m in the camp that doesn’t pull for any of them if they aren’t ND. I’m stubborn like that.

It’s not jealousy. And I strongly disagree about having aspirations to “have a team like them.” All scandals aside (which is just a click away in terms of research), meet your average fan from OSU and the repulsion is pretty automatic. I can’t speak for every OSU fan, but the ones I have met have a level of conceit that is unparalleled (save Michigan) and their instance on calling their university Thee Ohio State is some next level shit I’d rather not engage. They also hate Notre Dame. Again, I am generalizing, but not exaggerating my personal experience with their fans.

So yea, no.

A team like them on the field. We can do it. We've done it before. I think we can do it again.

Why not pull for Cincinnati? You want to shake up the CFP...how awesome would it be if we didn't make the CFP to see Cincinnati win? Once again, our only loss would be to the NC. Plus they have one of the toughest non-conference schedule. OSU is not a school we should aspire to be like...ever.

Ordinarily I would pull for them too. But I'm still pissed about that loss and that qb talking snack before, during and after that game. I can't believe we let that shit happen.

I think we'd beat them if we had a do over. Going over that game, so many mistakes that could have been avoided. Ugh.

Yep, I totally agree ... in a rematch I'd be fairly confident that the Irish would prevail. I was at that game and it was painful seeing those first half mistakes (and the Austin drop late in the game wide open for a BIG gain), none the less having to sit and listen to a few prick Cincy fans in our section the whole time. They were obnoxious as hell. Kinda tough to root for them after sitting thru that bullshit.

I do too. Convincingly.

I think another reason why I pull for Ohio State and other Big Ten teams is because when I was a boy, my dad, my grandpa and I would watch the Rose Bowl together and we would pull for the Big
Ten midwest teams. I remember a couple where Ohio State got screwed against USC(another ND rival like Michigan).
There was one that had a phantom touchdown for USC. He fumbled like at the two yard line, OSU recovered but the referee emphatically called it a touchdown. I remember my dad, a young man at the time, going nuts. Then another time, OSU was driving for the win and a USC defender completely ran over the receiver way before the ball got there. It was beyond obvious that it was PI. No call. USC wins. I think this was the early 1980's My dad also used to tell me that the 1968 Buckeyes were the greatest team ever and that they even stopped OJ Simpson and USC.
Just some more perspective of why I have a soft spot for Ohio State

Never understood the hatred for Ohio State on here. We hardly ever play them. They hate Michigan more than we do. They stomp Michigan on a regular basis. They are a midwest team with midwest winters and are the only school in the north that can beat the southern schools.

Unless it's jealousy. But we shouldn't be jealous. We should aspire to have a team like them.

I sort of agree while at the same time I always have a look at OSU games in the hope they are losing. OSU losing puts as big of a smile on my face as any team except Bama.

Hate index:

1 OSU

2 Michigan

3 USC

4 Pedophile State

5 Alabama

Michigan is 1-5
then probably the child rapists. My wife literally just sent me a funny dad joke meme from Instagram and the gentleman was in skunkbear t shirt and my response was just fucking skunkbear scum and no comment on the joke.

I dont even count Pedo State on my hate meter. They shouldn't even be playing D1 football anymore. Its a blight on the whole system they exist.

1. USC

2. Michigan

3. Ohio State

I dont really *hate* any other program. Well... Miami.

I hate Miami.

4. Miami.

I really only hate 2 schools - scUM and SCum.

OSU has never really bothered me that much and went to school with a lot of fans during the Krenzel years. Still could never get behind them unless playing scUM.

It really is a terrible bother we lost to them. A real bummer.

Is there any math that puts Cinci and ND 2 and 3 in the CFP?

It would be glorious.

Georgia wins the SEC championship, Wisconsin wins the B1G championship and Baylor wins the Big 12 championship.

The problem is that we would need a 2 loss OSU in over a 2 loss Alabama (as the committee will definitely avoid an Alabama/Georgia rematch and re-seed to avoid it). Maybe if they beat UM before losing to Wisconsin that would be enough.

As a SoCal guy with parents from Chicago who lives here my dad hated all SoCal teams. Well at least the ones that were good. Top of that list was USC.

USC in college football
UCLA in college basketball
Dodgers in baseball
Rams in Football

this started in the 60’s and I followed suit which meant our favorites were as follows:

Notre Dame
Notre Dame in college BB
Boston Celtics
Da Bears
Cubs and Reds

I wasn’t the most popular for these POVs in school but I was fine with that.

I can relate, but have adapted a bit.

My brother’s name is Yaz named after dad’s favorite player. I wore 21 my whole life through college even in little league when jersey’s didn’t number that high. Clemens was my favorite, so Dad had my uni renumbered.

Big Dolphins and Knicks fan too. Back in the day, the Dolphins played the Colts at home every year…I’ve seen Marino at least 10 times live.

Seen Patrick Ewing and Jordan (because it was Jordan) a bunch too.

Over the years though I’ve learned to love some Colts. He’s still is not a fan

It's Fuck Michigan, and then everyone else. I get the whole trying to make USC our rival, but it seems forced. I probably hate Miami more than USC.

I hate USC royally because they put a whooping on us for about 10 years, and that shit stung....I don't forget. Michigan is most hated because being an IU hoops fan too, there is a double whammy of Skunk.

When Ryan Day said we can hang a 100, I don't think he was bull shitting. I literally think he is about to try and hang 100 today.
