Maybe voters should stop electing these people?

Term limits would make this an even bigger grift than it already is. You basically give these clowns a time limit on how much they can steal and fuck up. Then they go out and the next one comes in, does the same.

Maybe. But we KNOW FOR CERTAIN not having them leads to trash people in office for 40 years. When we KNOW FOR CERTAIN a thing doesn’t work, it’s time to do something different. Term limits are the right next step.

Term limits would just lead people to go lobby after they're done. It's where people go when they retire. More important is a law limiting ex congresspeople from getting jobs/favors from lobbying firms after they're done. And paying more for staffers so congress doesn't rely on lobbyists for bill writing/policy input.

I mentioned it last page. I think there's a small chance that term limits could become a thing, but it would need a strong movement to get it done from the ground up. A MAGA-like revolution where one or both parties start fielding candidates that are pro-term limits and they manage to oust a bunch of the career politicians or at the very least secure enough seats that they outnumber those that remain. You basically would have to vote out as many of the swamp people as you can. It would be incredibly difficult, especially since they've got most of the campaign donations on their side. I don't see any other way it gets done, and for that reason it's unlikely to happen.

Convention of States is the only way, IMO.

That’s why term limits are the key. It’ll never happen but that’s the only way to keep them from getting entrenched w/ the lobbyists, The Founding Fathers put together a brilliant plan considering how long it lasted. They didn’t foresee all the special interest lobbies or the career politicians.

Term limits have been a disaster at the state level. All it showed was that politicians know they needed a new job and were more willing to be friendly to lobbyists. Then you ended up with a state legislature of rookies going up against the experienced lobbyists who actually know who the body literally functions. Basically, you're out of office right after you get through the learning curve.

What we needed is publicly funded elections. Cut the umbilical cord.

Close to term limits, it does appear that the first hint of Nancy retiring just happened. She bought an 11k square foot 25mil mansion in South Florida. It does appear that even she recognizes the bay area has gone to hell under her leadership and she wants to live the DeSantis life.

It would make sense. She is old and her caucus will likely get destroyed next November.

Supposed to have a net worth of about $100M so she can afford an $11M house. She's done a good job of squeezing every penny she can out of a $193,000 salary.

Man, this looks a lot like this house I know down in Boca Grande.

It's kinda funny, the other night Rittenhouse went there to do his interview with Tucker Carlson. It was spread around on social media and people were like, "Don't advertise where you're at, Kyle! They'll get you." I'm thinking...these people don't know what Boca Grande is like. You gotta pay a fee just to get on the island, and most of the communities are gated with guards. Average home price is like 2 mil, or at least it used to be years ago. The Bush family, Sr. and GW, used to vacation there all the time. Yeah, word travels around the island quick, but it's pretty safe and isolated. They keep the riff raff out, so to speak. Grandparents lived there for 25 years, just sold the house at the end of 2020.

Reckless is what's happening on our southern border, what happened in Afghanistan, what's going on with the pipelines, and yes the RECORD BREAKING INFLATION, which rose at the fastest rate in October since 1990. Feel free to join us in reality whenever it's convenient for you.

FActs, like Jack Webb said, just the facts.

And require all elected officials over a certain age (65?) to pass a physical & cognitive exam? At the end of Ronald Reagan’s second term, the Left loved to make light of Reagan’s early onset of Alzheimer’s Disease. This was before social media, the internet, opinion anchors who pretended to be journalists. I liked Reagan and would’ve voted for him both times had I been of age. That said, it’s hard to argue that an elected leader (Senator, Representative, POTUS, etc) should be able to fulfill their term despite physical or mental incapacity.

Poor Biden can’t even read the teleprompter correctly. He’s become Ron Burgandy and it’s a matter of time before some troll finds a way to have Biden exclaim the equivalence of “Fu@k you San DIego?” To the nation. You would think some of these lifelong politicians would even feign dementia to use as an excuse for some of their horrible quotes or votes. Ego is a powerful aphrodisiac and power is an addictive drug.

This x 1000. Even an age cut-off for all elected officials like 75+.

Not really comfortable subjecting old people to tests while young people are not.

I think voters are best equipped to decide if someone is too old or not.

I am not a fan of testing candidates but if we can restrict the age to be 35 or older then we can set an upper band too.

Three part civics test at the top of every ballot. Who is the current president, who is the current governor, how many states are in the union. If you can't get 100% on this multiple choice test your vote doesn't count. Election day should be a national holiday with only absentee as your alternative.

Nancy's husband is the bread winner. They owned several fancy houses before this. But the writing's been on the wall this would likely be her last term in congress.

I was in diapers in the 80s. You don't need to be a certain age to understand history and point out FACTS, like I did for you. Don't restrict any facts and don't apologize for your age. Just don't be oblivious to reality, whether we're talking about Carter's inflation or Biden's RECORD BREAKING INFLATION.

be careful, the insertion of facts into an emotional dialogue based on fantasy....................

it is well documented that Roger Stone told many people that Jeb Bush was the Cocaine King of Florida.

And if you get get the knuckledragging droolers to let their guard down, they will tell you about "Bathhouse Barry" that being the 44th.

Then one wonders whence Q'Anon arises and why people are waiting for John John to show up on a Dallas freeway.

This is the world we live in.

I'm really curious who these people are that you conveniently encounter frequently.

I've lived in a variety of super conservative areas, I can't say I've met anyone who has tried telling me Jeb Bush is some kingpin. I lived in the most conservative part of the state. People occasionally cracked jokes about Jeb being "low energy" because of his nickname, but he was very well liked.

I've never heard anyone say anything about Barry being some bathhouse. I'm sure there are some people who believe it, after all, some people believe the Steele Dossier. And the QAnon stuff has largely fallen apart (objectively a good thing). The few people I knew who dabbled with it have gotten away from it,

There are goofy people of every political persuasion. For example, there is many in the mainstream media who think Ron DeSantis is creating an army to start a civil war in Florida because he is trying to bring back a state guard separate from the national guard. ---> never mind that over 20 states (from sea to shining sea) have these.

There is still people who believe that Republicans are going to try and overturn court cases that struck down birth control and (lmaooooo) interracial marriage bans. Others take it further and foresee some Handmaid's Tale stuff, even though that sorta cuts against their weird anti-Catholic conspiracies.

Kamala Harris straight up told a judicial nominee he wasn't qualified to be a federal judge because hes in the Knights of Columbus.

Actually, it kinda makes sense that you allegedly have all these frequent encounters with crackpot people. Birds of a flock fly together.

Point is, if you go to a Star Trek convention, there is a good chance you'll end up believing that Trekkies are more numerous than they are and that Star Trek fans are fucking weird.
