Cutcliffe reportedly retiring at the end of the season. Dang.
Eh some how Saban will convince him to join as an analyst and therefore Arch manning to Bama.

So the full list of open jobs is:
LSU
USC
Virginia Tech
Washington
TCU
Washington State
Duke
Akron
UMass
FIU
i feel like the pool of available coaches for jobs is terrible. I saw an article about UW's likely candidates and it was just so uninspiring. Their best move is to bring back Petersen and that's not great
Add Fuente to the canned coaches list
Not that he needed more to get canned but the fact Hendon Hooker looks like a NFL prospect for Tennessee and the offensive guy Fuente couldn’t make it work looks really bad. Then again Heupel chose Milton over Hooker to start the year too.
Both guys out of a job Lake and Fuente will have high demand, as long as Lake doesn’t have a stink to him, were pretty damn hot names before their hiring. I could see Lake having a year off
A good assistant with a bright future got a job before he was ready. The program was in great shape when he inherited it but dealing with the press, managing the locker room and general program building aspects ate him alive.
I don't think Lake makes it through the year even if he didn't shove that player.

someone will want Lake for his recruiting chops i'd bet.
Freeman will get a call from someone, but I'm not sure he's ready to leave. Not so much about proving anything, but he just strikes me as the type that will be very selective with whom he will interview with. I can see him giving his agent a list of questions he'd like to have answers for before he even interviews with a school.

If Fickell were to take another job do you think Freeman would leave for the Cincy job or do you think Freeman is going to be even more selective and willing to wait numerous years for the right job?
With the lack of college candidates and the amounts of money getting thrown around I wonder if we'll see a lot of movement from the NFL down into college.
My board perusing combined with gut feeling on Va Tech moving on Fuente even though his buyout drops in a few weeks was directly about one name: Billy Napier. Think they see him as one of their top options and don’t want to not even be in the sweepstakes. It sounds like Napier is a real possibility at TCU while being the obvious floor candidate for LSU. Everyone wants the culture guy.
I’ve seen Jamey Chadwell mentioned as well. Are we sure trying to run that offense is really a plan to win the ACC? Are you hiring him based off his playbook or just overall innovative mind and personality? I’d be surprised if they go G5 offensive mind when that is what Fuente was.
Not saying Chadwell would be bad because Fuente was but that in general is a common hiring practice. To not replicate the type of coach you just fired. Go offense then defense. CEO then play caller . Out of towner then in state etc
Definitely a copy cat league but one thing that the big boys have never copied is triple option, and Chadwell’s offense is teetering that line between how far RPO can go before you’re closer to straight option principles.
Sort of agree. I think the glaring difference between the two though is personality. Va Tech needs a guy to come in and spark that program. Fuente is a good coach but he doesn't have much personality. Chadwell has that.

Colin Coward mentioned he's hearing Lincoln Riley as a candidate for LSU. He doesn't believe them, but he's heard them. Given OU is going to the SEC, I'm not sure that would be a wise move. OU administration and fans will give you a longer leash than LSU.
Michigan State pulling their best Charlie Weis move.

Tell all the OU fans demanding he give up play calling and calling him a b**** in his pressers that lol
