Might've just cost the Cowboys the game by hitting Big Ben in the facemask on 3rd & 10. Right call. Dumb rule. He knows better.
It’s shocking to me how low it’s gotten for him. I think the Cowboys fan base wants to run him out of town. Think he had a big penalty earlier as well. Pains me.

Smith seems to be the whipping boy of Cowboys fans. A quick peak on one of their forums and there are multiple threads calling for him to be cut. It’s crazy to me because he is so universally loved by ND fans. Dallas fans, not so much.
Since he's tied for most tackles, I'm guessing it's coverage where he's struggling. IDK.
All I know is the Dallas games I've watched, he's been fine. The talent around him is so bad he's drinking from a fire hose constantly. Just looked at snap counts and he's got more snaps than anyone on D, and another 49 on STs... I mean WTF.. 38% more than the next LB. And I think Dallas is in nickel more than not, so he's more often than not 1 of 2 LBs, and with the highest expectations at WILL.
If I were him I'd get the hell out of D.
I know it's Twitter which is a cesspool, but Jaylon tweeted something the other day and a bunch of Cowboy fans were all over him like, "Spend less time on social media and more time working on your tackling." Like WTF? I might be a bit biased, but was Jaylon not #2 in total tackles in the NFL last year? He's led the team in at least the last 2-3 years as well. Cowboys defense gets a bad wrap, deservedly so, but at what point do you blame the guy doing most of the work? Surely there's far weaker links on that defense that they should be trolling. You can't even reason with these people when you bring these facts forward.
While statistically Smith is hands-down the better of the two, is that really the case? Those of us who have spent a lot of time watching game film know that a lot of Smith’s tackles come from clean up efforts where he’s had to chase down a runner after they’ve gotten passed him. Is it fair to punish Vander Esch for missing all those tackles when he puts himself in better position to at least attempt the tackles in the first place? Maybe not, but it is fair to acknowledge he’s just not making many plays for the defense.
Verdict: Smith might be a little better than we give him credit for, but both of them did not play well last year, and as far as which player is the better of the two - it’s too close to call right now.
He honestly isn't the best LB in the past year or two, and as Lucky points out he or LVE will be gone after next season. His showboating is a little too much, especially when your team is down 28 points in the 4th quarter. He's unfortunately not a fan favorite here in Dallas.
Jaylon's injury clearly hurt his ability some. But to say he is a liability is crap. Is HE going to be a hall of famer that's unknown. But he is still a good football player that numerous team would love to have. Social media has made a lot of internet tough guys.
Ummm very head scratching release.
Not if it is based at all on his play. He has been bad.
Wondering if some bad story is about to break, or he’s just been that bad. Cowboys still owe him 7.2 million.
