I watched on Jan 6 in real time- it was dumb but far from violent and also over in a couple of hours. Very unremarkable in real time. We have a full year of violent, destructive protests leading up to that - real violence and destruction not this Jan 6 Buffalo Bill shit. Nothing like the Kavanaugh protests or the mob outside the White House after the ACB event. Or a Republican baseball practice for that matter (btw the FBI claiming they don't know motive on that guy and we should trust them on anything?). And the only murder was the still unidentified Capitol Police officer that shot an unarmed woman. Where is the police brutality crowd on that one?

The real story is how many of these people are being held in custody without charges and supposedly how they are being held in isolation and treated like garbage. Any reasonable person knows that 99% of them were just part of the herd following the people in front of them.

This is the Biden regime portraying political opponents as an enemy and using their power to keep a couple hundred idiots in the headlines. Also, Dems spent a year with their head in the sand while communities were destroyed, property burned, people hurt and killed, and then had an opportunity to try and twist the narrative. Now we have a country with people who see no consequences. Is it any wonder how people who watched arson, looting, and violence got carried away and walked around the Capitol?

Gentle reminder our cities were boarded up in case the other guy won. When a Democrat cries about insurrection, I instantly tune out.

come on, man.....those protests were 'mostly peaceful'. Except for all the Burning, Looting, and Murdering....

Checking CNN.com this morning they have several articles on the front page about the riot.

Well, when you push propaganda, you have to sell propaganda.

its easy to see who all thinks the same....what websites (and ppl) ALL are saying the same thing. (and when I say the same thing, I mean the SAME EXACT thing).

they are all part of the go-along-to-get-along gang.

He couldn’t pardon for state related crimes anyway. We will see. I think Trump is unindicted conspirator 1. I also think Trump org is toast after this. Weisselberg himself is being charged with not paying over $1mil in taxes over 15 years.

If all they have is a dude not paying a million dollars in taxes over 15 years thats small potatoes.

We have clients at work in much worse shape than that.

yet again....the leftists will be severely disappointed when this doesn't end up the way they wish it will. All of sudden, it will be just a none issue.

Let's sit back and watch them work themselves into a frenzy....then it will end up like the incident where the white cop shot the black girl with the knife while saving the girl dressed in pink (crickets and pindrops)

This Trump Org indictment is juicy

Finally got a chance to look at this. Criminal charges over fringe benefits are (unless they have something wild that is not disclosed yet) pretty anticlimactic. Many businesses are likely sloppy on this front and will never see a DA. This is clearly aimed at the Trump name and using the resources of New Yorkers to try and score a win against Trump.

What did you find juicy? What did I miss?

Falsifying business records is probably the worst one. Not that the Trump org was getting sweetheart lending deals (A guy who's declared bankruptcy as many times as him...), but his legitimate financing is going to dry up super quick. This is terrible financially for the Org, oh and the investigation is supposed to continue.

Even odds between Eric or Don Jr? I think I would take Snowman over inbred.

Reading about this, a lot of the unreported income is stuff that goes on all the time all over the place. They indicted Weisselberg in hopes that he will flip on Trump and provide some damning evidence. Normally in situations like this the result is a hefty fine and paying what is owed. Jail is rarely a result. This will end up being another nothing burger. Amazing how some just can't move along.

Nothing about those charges are nothingburger or normal. I've dealt with a number of audits on people close to the same level of wealth as him. Not one has had there company criminally charged. I do know it's easier to understand a drug addicted meth head son, but falsifying business records is not just a missed tax slip.

Ps. It is truly ironic that so many want to move along on a story that's only about a week or so old, yet still harp on Hunter Biden lmao but her emailssssssssssssssssssss

When I mention people moving along, I'm not talking about this specific story, but the endless effort to get Trump. Missed tax slip? I have no doubt this was done willingly. My point is like the others. If this wasn't the Trump organization this wouldn't be a news story and if wasn't Trump criminal charges wouldn't have been filed. It is truly ironic that so many can't see the obvious.

There wouldn't be anything to "get" if he/his organization/people around him weren't such sloppy criminals. It's not hard.

So would you prefer charges not to be filed? "He's famous, let him off" lol

"Nobody would care if Hunter Biden was just some meth head who's dad is rich, instead of being a Biden" - See how bad the argument sounds? We're better than that.

No one would be talking about Hunter Biden if he weren't Joe's son. And while we defunded the tax police under Trump, the name of the game in white collar crime is to make high profile examples of abuses you can't prosecute everyone for. If a few people start going away for lying on their taxes, the risk/benefit of tax fraud shifts and rich people pay their taxes more often.

The issue people aren't talking about is if the Trump Org is found guilty of fraud, Deutche Bank will be able to demand their loan back early. The Trump org has issues getting loans due to issues with paying creditors in the past. In their line of work having easy access to cheap credit/cash flow is very important.

The problem here is that this isn't going after a high profile "example." It's political payback, and that's why some folks roll their eyes at this. The example provided here would not be: "pay your taxes or the government is going to nail you." It would be: "Don't upset the liberal establishment or they'll wreck your life."

Everyone should roll their eyes at this.

The Trump Organization’s Political Prosecution

When settlement talks begin, you can expect Mr. Trump’s political pull to be on the table too.

Mr. Trump’s lawyer said, probably accurately, that such complaints usually are settled as a civil matter with the Internal Revenue Service for the reasons alluded to above. The IRS cares mainly about getting maximum money at least cost for its enforcement efforts. Not so elected officials such as Mr. Vance and Ms. James. If the prosecution is a giant net loser financially for the state of New York, that’s fine with them.

If the charges are right, among the expenses Mr. Trump picked up for his employees to maximize the bang for his compensation buck were school tuition, a company Mercedes, and free apartments for employees and their family members.

Mr. Trump would have dispensed these goodies because in New York City, where the top cumulative income-tax rate is 52%, he could cut in half the cost of providing after-tax compensation to a high-level employee.

Tax systems, which both fund the government and shape the incentives that drive the private economy, are too important not to be regarded with extreme practicality. Every tax system operates on the margin between people’s desire to live within the law and their incentive to cheat, which smart tax designers keep in mind.

You will be right to ask: If Mr. Trump is now to be held to this standard of tax honesty, will others? When and if a grand jury gets around to indicting him for offenses reportedly related to how buildings were valued for tax and banking purposes, the same questions will simmer. As the New York Times reported in 2018 after digging through a decade of Trump family tax data, the Trumps use the same appraisers, tax lawyers and accountants that other New York real-estate families use, albeit the others are not so imprudent as to put their heads in the tiger’s mouth by contesting with the nation’s political class for its top prize.

It wouldn’t be right to leave this subject without a passing note. On the same behavior that is rightly treated as offensive if Mr. Trump does it, Congress built the distortion that many diagnose as a root cause of our healthcare-financing maladies: employers being allowed to hand out health coverage to employees as untaxed compensation, which ends up inflating the price of healthcare and disproportionately benefits wealthier taxpayers.

The likelihood that Mr. Trump, for all his incentive to signal otherwise, would run for president again always seemed to me low and seems lower now. His investment in the stolen-election lie struck me as the opportunism of the checkers player, without a plan. He realized if he backpedaled and ran up the white flag his audience would drift away. His ability to reward and punish by mobilizing his supporters would disappear. His way into the minds of 40% of voters would be a power officeholders and office-seekers would no longer have to fear (it’s eroding anyway thanks to the social media freeze-out). I expect when Mr. Trump enters settlement talks with his latest legal assailants, he intends this ability to make trouble or refrain from making trouble will be a bargaining chip on the table too.

Meanwhile, those leaking tax docs to ProPublica are being investigated as hard as the real killer of Nicole Brown Simpson.

Biden and Hilary emails were essentially non stories to "so many" on the left. If they can get a pass and we all move on why not Trump/ Trump Org? Talk about irony....
