Yep on the girlfriend.

I read long ago the Baers' were Irish fans and noted it on the Master List. But I get the feeling that it may not have been a cultural fit once the parties got together. I'm a motorcycle racing enthusiast. I've seen Pops in a Roeder Racing t-shirt on his visits. Roeder is a famous name in Harley Davidson Flat Track racing and it's a wildly popular Harley service shop that caters to the Harley lifestyle/crowd. I can see some culture clash here and if true, that's a shame.

But to your original point, I also think his position on the board and the commitability of his offer being dependent on Wagner, Brunner, etc, was most likely a factor too.

At least the U of I is still a good school. Cancelling a visit because of a HS girlfriend though, that's not great. But like Crus said above, ISD had said afterwards that the fit wasn't there.

I'm literally melting right now! She isn't exactly a random internet girl when she is the gf of an ND recruit. But also, I just don't think it is that much fun to make fun of high school kids, but maybe that's just me.
