I get requiring ID's and keeping Fulton County in check after their shady crap last cycle, but the food and beverage thing is new to me. It makes more sense when you read the bill and not the media coverage.

"(a) No person shall solicit votes in any manner or by any means or method, nor shall any person distribute or display any campaign material, nor shall any person give, offer to give, or participate in the giving of any money or gifts, including, but not limited to, food and drink, to an elector, nor shall any person solicit signatures for any petition, nor shall any person, other than election officials discharging their duties, establish or set up any tables 1877 or booths on any day in which ballots are being cast:

The irony of people supporting HR1 and acting like election integrity is the end of the world is hilarious and tragic to me.

That's why I pulled up the bill and skimmed around.

I'm interested in seeing what people think of my proposal to bring a red food cart, staffed by people wearing red, and giving delicious street food to people waiting in line.

In college when we'd be waiting in line for games, it was common for businesses around town to bring food by, or the alumni association or the athletic scholarship fundraising non-profit might bring by a bunch of pizza or something.

Do I think they were doing it to be nice? Eh. Sure. Do I also think they were doing it to entice certain behavior in the future? Absolutely.

Do I think its the end of the world if people are bringing around water? Not really. But not allowing it is far from some lack of a moral compass that the media (and some posters here) are making it out to be.

This is my favorite thing to come out of this press conference. OH NOES HE USED NOTES DURING THE PRESS CONFERENCE!! HOW DARE HE.

Give me a break, people use notes for press conferences ALL. THE. TIME. To start calling them a "cheat sheet" might be the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

Yeah I don't care if people have notes/cheat sheets, if he has a script, then its bad.

if the goal is to criticize someone, the first rule is to pick something worth criticizing. Similar to when Trump got 2 scoops of ice cream or Barry rocking an unconventional (hideous) suit color. It just undermines your valid criticisms when you criticize dumb shit that isn't problematic.

From some of the pictures, it looked like he did have a script of who he was gonna call on and that's mildly concerning, but for all I know that's SOP for the job. Anyone know much about that?

But a couple dudes on a football forum are medical experts?

Remember when Donny showed up too late to be tested when it was reasonable to assume he was symptomatic with COVID? I guess he told the virus to stand back and stand by....

Let me clarify a couple of things for you and Autry.
1. I said I was no expert. Do you guys ever read what someone writes?
2. In my reply to Perth, I pointed out the flaws in his logic. If you don't believe you lose some mental capacity as you get older, both of you are in for a shock.
3. There are varying degrees of Alzheimers. Just because he's not forgetting everything or wondering where he's at every five minutes doesn't mean he doesn't have it to some degree. It doesn't happen like a heart attack. It sneaks up on you. It can remain the same with some people or get progressively worse with time. BTW.....This is from the AMA and not my opinion.
4. There are plenty of videos out there that show Biden forgetting his train of thought more than once. At his age what do you attribute it to?
5. Here's a link to a research site. That "nurse" is cited 20 times for Alzheimer and Dementia studies. https://www.researchgate.net/scientific-contributions/Stephanie-Munger-39350998.
6. Tell me who's more qualified to form an educated opinion, a senator or someone with a masters in Public Health who spent over five years studying these patients, before she went back to school and got her nursing degree?

Dude, I never questioned your daughter. You should be immensely proud of her for going into an honourable field.

1. I didn't respond to you, I responded to Lep (Do you ever read what someone writes?). I never questioned your daughter's take on his health. Unless all of IE has consulted with her then their claims are simply just founded in their personal beliefs.

2. Please point out where I claimed that you keep 100% of your mental capacity as you age, if I didn't you can put away that hilarious strawman.

3. Yeah, lost two grandparents to it. Terrible stuff, and I know exactly how it goes.

4. We can go on for hours with goofy videos of Trump/Biden.

5/6. See above.

People should also be careful with the word Alzheimer's. I assumed that was what my Grandpa had since he had all the symptoms a common person would see. I didn't learn until after he died it was a similar but different disease (name escapes me) that many just lump in with Alzheimer's.

On Biden, whether he has actual dementia or whatever seems less relevant. We can all see the old guy have senior moments quite regularly. I'm guessing that's just something that happens to many once they hit a certain age. It probably isn't going to become less frequent.

You wouldn't see those types of things happen to Clinton, Bush, or Obama... and I'm guessing it might have something to do with being much younger at the time. Unrelated but its wild to see how much Presidents visibly age by the end of their terms.

Yes I did read what you wrote and to me it came across as directed to me. My apologies for taking it the wrong way. Yes, very proud of her. Actually went back to school after her fight with Stage 4 breast cancer to get her nursing degree. Now she is an OR nurse and works with cancer patients. She got her brains and drive from her mother. lol

I guess you missed the part about her having a masters in public health and directed clinical trials on Alzheimer and Dementia patients for several years, but carry on.

Has she ever studied sociopathy or narcissistic personality disorder? And if so what did she think of the last presidents mental state?

Spot on and why I responded to Perth. It won't get better and the stress the job puts on you accelerates everything. Like I said, I don't wish Biden any ill health, but he's showing the signs.

"I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or almost a cleaning, because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs."

"I said supposing you brought the light inside the body, which you can do either through the skin or in some other way. And I think you said you're going to test that too... So, we'll see, but the whole concept of the light, the way it kills it in one minute - that's pretty powerful."

I was being facetious but those are the quotes regarding bleach and strong light. Inject is directly in the bleach quote. The people defending that are now the ones panning Joementia. It's sad.

Also Bill Cassidy is an actual physician. Having and MPH allows you to do research but has no qualification to make actual diagnoses. Age related slowing (That any president will have) is very different than developing Alzheimers (See Ronald Reagan)

If the repubs could actually take down Biden over mental health the dems would lose all political capital. Manchin and Sinema wouldnt back Kamala's pushes. The infrastructure/HR1 pushes would grind to a halt. It is ABSOLUTELY in their interest to get rid of Joe.

Possibly in school, but as far as work, not that I'm aware of. As far as I know her work was just centered around Alzheimer's and Dementia. She definitely thinks Trump is narcissistic in a big way.

Trump isn't and wasn't very good at being careful with his words and it was a goofy and irresponsible thing to say.

But the research into using UV light inside the body predates Donald even saying it. If companies are investing/researching the idea, I'll assume it's not an objectively dumb idea for a non-science nerd to think might make sense.

Appreciate it. One thing I would say, is that it doesn't surprise me that Kennedy people vote Republican now. Kennedy's ideals line up closer to Republicans today. i must be an outlier as I turned 18 under Nixon, but I've voted R more than D in the last 30 years or so. I was pretty much D until I was around mid 30's.

While I'm sure that some made light (pun intended) of the whole UV thing, I don't remember much, if any, fallout from that comment. It was the injecting the disinfectant comment that made people go .... WTF is he talking about. It was a stupid comment, that's why Trump himself tried to "walk it back" a day or two later claiming he he was being sarcastic.

For the record I think age related changes in mental capacity are a legit concern for Biden. As evidenced by Repub senators he has full mental capacities at the moment but has a greater risk for decline than any recent president besides Trump. (A tad younger but still old, less healthy exercise/sleep/diet) He's at higher risk for a heart attack, severe viral illness next winter or just plain slowing. My grandma at 80 was sharp as a tack and active. 80 to 90 was a much bigger change than 70 to 80. Heck 80 to 84 was a bigger decline than 70 to 80.

My point is Alzheimers/Dementia are distinct diagnoses that would be obviously unmasked in public settings. A very conservative southern doctor in the senate clearly thinks Bidennis of sound mind. As long as the NY post/Fox run Joementia tropes expectations are at the floor and Biden can clear expectations easily. If you want to oppose him at least be smart about it.

Sorry threw in an edit because I realized I forgot to include a sentence to connect 2 ideas.

Yeah she needs to spend her adult life filing bankruptcies and host a “reality” show to gain the intelligent vote. You guys are COMICAL!

She didn't even make it to Christmas by herself in the primaries and even newspapers identified her lack of qualifications. You can whatabout this, but she wasn't selected because she would win a battleground state or add experience to the ticket.

The point though is that while that generation had a normal conservative trend it was still to the left of generations that started further to the right. Also, on economics all the presidents from FDR to Ford are far to the left of the current republican party.

Why was she selected, say that quiet part out loud for everyone to see.

I think Biden admitted why... at the very least he wanted a women. What he picked was a minority and a women.

Not quite out loud, but I wrote it for those that want to read it out loud.

Kamala isn't a scary progressive ideologue. She was a prosecutor and takes positions she thinks she needs to win (see the primary. Still not sure what her positions were). She's an uninspiring candidate and easy to run against, but she's not Marx in stilettos. My personal hope is Joe still has it in him to run again and then someone else wins the nom in 2028.

Nobody knows what to believe on Harris. Her voting record is not encouraging. To the left of Bernie is saying something. Participating in the fewest bipartisan bills, wooohooo. She's either very liberal, or she's an opportunist trying to convince the left that she is more liberal then what she really is. Neither one am I comfortable with. Long live Biden.

WTF!? Kamalatoe is about as extreme as you're gonna get! Damn! And as far as Mush Brain, he will be lucky to even be able recognize that he's actually a human being four yrs. from now! A couple more times falling up the stairs to Air Force One they'll need to strap him in a seat and put him an escalader get him up there. Geesh!

Why was she selected, say that quiet part out loud for everyone to see.

I'll say it. She got selected for checking off two very big boxes (black, female) and one small (Asian) box.

Pence made sense, he's the quiet measured guy with executive experience with all the conservative bona fides you want a guy like Donald Trump around. "Donald, thats not how we do things."

Biden made sense as a VP, he's the old swamp vet you pair with the young visionary who is still new in town to help guide the ship. "Barack, here's how this goes. I'll make some calls and see what we can do."

Viewed in the best possible light, Kamala didn't bring anything resembling that. Tulsi bodied her so bad in the debate that she basically ended her life. She's a darker Kristen Gillebrand.

Kamala was a pander choice. You know it. I know it. Biden all but said it. People can pick whoever they want, that's their prerogative, but this isn't controversial or saying the quiet part out loud. It's saying what everyone knows around. Dude said "im picking a minority woman."

Had he chosen Amy Klobuchar or something, I dont think that'd be a bad pander. That lady is very respected by people, whether you agree with her or not. Has a reputation for getting things done. Super smart. Etc.

Kamala is the type of person who born at the right time. If she were 10 years older she'd have probably missed out on opportunities for the wrong reasons (discrimination) and if she were 10 years younger she'd have missed out on them for the right reasons (lack of talent in an era of expanding diversity).

in the next 10-20 years, both parties will probably have run out of "firsts" that parties choose to pander to different groups, and that will be a good thing.

Miguel Estrada would be sitting on the Supreme Court today had it not been for (documented) Democrat fear of having the first Hispanic on the court be a conservative appointed by a republican.

Kamala made a point of voting as liberal/progressively as possible because she thought she could capture the liberal base of the dems. She did similar things to at least triangulate in California/the Bay. Also kamalatoe? We're cool with misogynistic epithets on this site?
