The way you have it set up definitely alleviates some of my concerns. I was thinking people drop out after a couple of years but if you pay in advance that probably stops that.

Yeah, and then when people do drop out the new guy in gets a free year... so it's a solid system. This league is all HS buddies, and I'm honestly impressed with how well it was conceived/run by our commish. I think he did a really good job.

LAX, how do your payouts work?

We've talked about making changes to the league I've run for 8 seasons, and several guys have mentioned making it a dynasty.

Right now, we pay out weekly bonuses to the high scorer, and the regular-season points leader makes almost as much as the playoff winner. We had three years in a row where we had a FAR and away points leader who clearly put together the best team, only for that person to get screwed in one bad week during playoffs. This way, if you have the best team but get screwed, you're still rewarded for having the best team. And if you have the best team AND you win the playoffs, you are rewarded accordingly.

We could keep our weekly bonuses for having a high week, but we'd have to change our "points leader" payout if we decrease playoffs to four teams.

For my 12 team dynasty league, everyone pays in $50. First place wins $400, second place wins $100, third place wins $50, and regular season champ wins $50.

You could easily add payouts on a weekly basis or for divisional winners but the way we have it set up is heavily weighted to whoever wins the playoffs.

Also, a big reason I'm in position to win the championship in one of my leagues is because I picked up Cameron Artis-Payne and Mike Gillislee on the waiver wire this week.

I've had no running backs since Ingram went down, and since Hyde got deactivated before that. I'd been living off of big Cam Newton and Doug Baldwin weeks through the playoffs, along with smart defensive plays. Tavon Austin going off last week helped too.

This week, Gillislee's late 50-yarder might have won me a championship. Waiver Wire Hero.

I JUST WON ON THAT MCCARRON FUMBLE!!!! My game was tied 140.8 to 140.8! If he even got 1 passing yard on that drive I would've lost!!!!

EXCLAMATION POINTS!!!!!!

Congrats to Ironman for winning the IE league. I can't be mad as I hated my team on draft night and ridiculously overachieved. Plus I won my main league, and ironically had a bunch of guys Ironman played against me and I went against a few guys I played against Ironmsn. So congrats, man. Good first season for this keeper league, IE peoples.

Congrats IM8 and Rhode, too. I will send you both your payments shortly.

I hope we all do this again next year. Seems like everyone was on top of their lineups for the most part. If you know you are not going to participate let us know as soon as possible so we can get a replacement.

Time to fire this up. Need to start thinking about keepers and draft dates.

I believe we said we were going to increase the buy in by either $5 or $10 every year. I will have to go back and check.

I also vote that we get rid of the IR spot since this is a keeper league. If you want to draft someone that's already out for the year so you can stash them you shouldn't be able to just put them on the IR.

There should be a stronger disadvantage to stashing.

Also there should be 6 playoff teams IMO. Top 2 get byes. Pot of $240 dollars could be split 80 for regular season winner, 120 for playoffs winner, and 40 for playoffs second place. This keeps the regular season valuable while giving 6 teams a shot at the other part of the pot. And of course the top 2 also get the ever valuable byes.

So going forward

1/3 to regular season winner.
50% to playoffs
Remainder to second place (playoffs)

I propose we start at $20 this year and then increase by $10 every year up to a $50 max. That way people are serious about this, which is important for a keeper league.

I also propose the two keepers may only be from rounds three or later. So anyone picked in rounds 1 and 2 may not be a keeper the following season.

I believe we said we were going to increase the buy in by either $5 or $10 every year. I will have to go back and check.

I went back and we agreed to go up $10 per year. So buy in this year is $30. It will eventually max out at $50 unless we all agree to exceed that.

I believe we agreed to 1 keeper, with a 1 round penalty per year. Free agents are considered last round picks (before taking into account the penalty).

I cannot figure out if we agreed to prohibit 1st and 2nd round keepers. What are everyone's thoughts on that?

Idk, Ironman needs to make the league available and click the option that allows you to roll over the previous rosters, that way I can see who I had and base my decision completely on my own squad haha.

(Rolling over the rosters shouldn't be an issue, because you can still re-draft the league I believe. However, if it is, the "League History" tab should have everyone's final rosters included.)

I think Gattaca is the commish because we had to create a new league?

I'm a homer, but it wouldn't surprise me if Eifert scores 12+ TD's this year. With Green on one side and Marvin Jones/Mohamed Sanu splitting the outside and the slot opposite Green, Eifert should be a nightmare for opposing LB's all year, especially in the redzone. He just needs to stay healthy.

I tried telling you guys

Question for all you Fantasy Football nuts out there:

I'm in another league that will also be operating on keeper rules.

If I don't take a keeper, I get put in a raffle. The winner of the raffle gets first overall pick, even if they're picking in a slot that is NOT the first slot.

So, do I keep Tyler Eifert for an 8th rounder or Jordan Reed for a 10th-rounder, and disregard the TE position during the draft, or is the potential to pick no.1 overall a greater value?

Keep Eifert.

Reed is the "better" pick, but they're very close and I always give the homer discount to an ND guy. More fun to root for them.

Keep Eifert.

That's kind of how I'm leaning, as he is the best weapon they've got behind Green and because Cincy/ND homer...

But at the same time, the losses of Marvin Jones and Mohammad Sanu mean he won't see great matchups consistently like he did last year. Unless Tyler Boyd is the truth from day one, or Eifert gets healthy for week one, I don't know if it's a good risk.

Plus, all rankings have Reed as the no.2 TE behind Gronk. Reed for a 10th rounder is WAY better value than an injury-risk Eifert for an 8th rounder.

See my edit.

Though a case could be made for picking Gronk #1 overall if you were to enter the lottery and win.

Yeah, first and second rounders from last year are off-limits, so it starts with players that were picked from the 3rd round and on.

I don't think there's a "wrong" answer, based on the values/potential I have with my TE's from last year, and there will be the regular pick of the litter in the top two rounds for the most part if I decide to NOT keep somebody.

Keep Reed. Thinking with your heart is how you guarantee to lose in Fantasy.

I believe I was in this one last year. Can anyone confirm? If so, I'm in again
Yes I believe you were.

I picked Eddie Lacy second overall. I shall not be keeping him.

I think we need to prohibit 1st or 2nd round keepers because the penalty wouldn't even apply to 1st rounders. And it would not be fair to allow 2nd rounders because of the snake draft order.

I know, I was joking. Eddie Lacy at #2 overall was an all time terrible pick last year.

I do think 1 keeper is very soft in a keeper league. I think 1 should be the minimum with a max of 2 or 3 personally. What does everyone think?

I felt that pain in my high-dollar league. Killed me down the stretch, after putting a nice team around him and finding some nice waiver-wire saviors.
