Has Cass Tech ever sent anyone to ND? Football-wise of course.

That is an excellent question. Tried to find out and came up blank. Maybe someone smarter than me can answer that. I did a quick search but nothing came up.

No surprise and with JH there now, getting kids out of Michigan is going to be very difficult.

That works both ways. What will happen next year is Harbaugh will be able to go into more homes across the country as Michigan's brand continues to improve. That leaves more Michigan kids without Michigan offers. This is happening in Ohio right now. Of the 16 Four Star players in the state, OSU is only going to get 7, 6 if Cage ends up in South Bend. That's a lot of talent left for the surrounding P5's to pick through. The reason? Urban has gone coast to coast this cycle getting a historic class. That's gonna happen with Harbaugh too. The problem with Michigan as opposed to Ohio is they have less talent and two viable programs to compete with.

VERY TRUE, this also starts to rub high school coaches the wrong way w/ feeder programs when they do this

Yep.

And if I'm ND, I'm at all the Cincy, Cleveland, Toledo, etc... Catholic schools letting them know they are the most important building block in Ohio's other program.
Create the backlash. Take advantage of OSU recruiting nationally and leaving OSU kids out. Dantonio has used this strategy getting a lot of high 3 star, low 4 star players that OSU have over looked... and won big. ND can compete with OSU at an even higher level because of the Catholic school importance to Ohio HS football and the fact that the average person doesn't see ND as the enemy from a rival B1G school. That's one reason I would never schedule OSU or play them in a bowl if at all possible. Better to keep that friendly other school reputation.

Don't even bother with the Bears. The McCaskeys aren't as cheap as they used to be (nickels and manhole covers whathaveyou), but they won't be ponying up enough for Harbaugh, who's making $9M/yr now. Also, he hated Chicago, because if there's a guy who wouldn't put up with his BS and could outcrazy him, it was Ditka. There's a reason that Harbaugh went to the Colts in free agency. Ditka broke him.

You make a number of good points, but now that the Cubs have won, the pressure on the McCaskey's is rising to produce a winning team. Even still you are likely correct that Indy is the more likely landing place.

The pressure has always been on the McCaskeys, but they hold all of the cards. They want the team to win, but they won't go spending crazy amounts of money. I also imagine that they would not appreciate Harbaugh's demand for control or sideline antics.

there a bunch of former UM players coaching HS ball in Michigan (Cass Tech's HC played with Harbaugh) so I dont think it's possible for him to burn any bridges too easily.

He came out recently and scolded the BigTen for scheduling future games on fridays saying that friday nights belong to high school football in Michigan. He's too savvy to say anything that would offend the coaches and also the program has the money to hire any number of them as analysts if needs be to keep things sweet.

Harbaugh to the Bears? No. That is all.

Monsters of the Midway do not Netflix and chill with underage boys.

As he increases his national reach, he has to pay less attention to home. It's math, just like Urban is encountering. Dantonio gets the first spoils but ND should be there to take advantage of the Catholic schools in the Detroit Metro area.

Another reason Harbaugh looks so good this year is A) The state of Michigan had a bumper crop in 2017 and B) He started recruiting these kids as soon as he hit the ground. He was very fortunate this years class was both historically loaded for a state of Michigan class and it coincided on a rare year when MSU stunk it up.

Aren't we loaded at safety for 2020? Doubt he'd have interest, or us.

"He was recruited as a malleable defensive back and became exactly that, playing/practicing at three different positions as a true freshman before settling in as a safety during his sophomore campaign."

I dunno. Seems we're good on tweeners. We need (young) safeties and we need corners. We don't need DBs...

I don't see this happening. Something to keep in mind, we brought in 4 'CB's' last cycle but the reality is, not all of those guys are going to be at CB long term. Plus we added Pryor. So I think we're just fine at the position. We'll probably address S numbers in the 2021 class with 3 guys. That makes more sense.
