The way too early '18 school rankings on 247 have ND ranked #2 with 4 recruits averaging a 95.53 score. Miami is #1 with 6 verbals averaging 87.69; FSU is #3 and LSU is #4 each with 5 verbals.

Comp ratings systems are silly. Nobody would trade four 95's for six 87's.

There should be a dual rating system where one column rates quantity and the other rates quality.

I originally thought there was a chance. At one time, Ricky Slade was trending towards OSU. He's the other top APB in '18 out of Virginia. Now he's not because those in the know thing Gill's wrapped up to Columbus.

Best guess is, ND gets the silver come podium time.

Any news on his OSU lean, or is that speculation to this point?

I like Slade's film a lot, too. Is he next in line?

I don't know if I'd say he's next. I think they are letting the '18 commits handle Gill right now. He and Stepp seem to be pretty tight and all of the '18 crew seem to interact well together. They seem to have found a group identity like the last two OL classes did.
If Gill is too close to OSU to pass it up, Slade looks like an ND type of guy. Seems to be drifting to PSU and or VT right now and ND has had plenty of success against those two recently. Plus he got a Duke offer not long ago... meaning he's taking care of that aspect of being a student athlete.

As far as who's next in the backfield. That starts and ends with Zamir White. ND has also offered the #2 RB in the country, Lorenzo Lingard. TJ Pledger got offered last week too.

Ones to watch besides those already offered if a second RB doesn't commit early:

Jamal Elliot from IMG (He's a NC kid originally)

Maurice Washington from NorCal. Sanford's on him already.

Ronnie Walker from VA. Has a perfect offer list for an ND recruit. (UVa, Duke, Rutgers, Vandy)

Kristian Pechac from Bloomington, IN

Michael McDowell from St Eddy's in Cleveland.
