Saw Captain America. Really liked it.
Besides the introduction and reintroduction of Black Panther and Spiderman, I thought it was thin. Still enjoyed it though.
Any of you guys that have now seen it get any parts of the same vibe that I got, that it should have been "Iron Man: Civil War" rather than "Captain America: Civil War"?
Yes, Iron Man is a big part of the movie, but the main focus of the story is Cap. It leans to an all out Avengers movie, but that is because they do a great job of letting everyone have a reasoning or their outright say on the Sokovia Accords and why each of them comes to the decision they did. It is also why we learn that people like Clint and Natasha pick sides we might not have originally guessed for their characters at first blush
I wish we had SPOILER function to say a few other things, but oh well
Is he, though?
KIND OF SPOILERS BUT NOT REALLY:
The plot is driven by Stark and his issues. Those issues connect to The Winter Soldier, which THEN connects to Cap's position.
From the beginning to the very end, it's about Cap (and others) acting upon Stark's issues. The movie itself opens with Stark, and proceeds to end with Stark reading a letter from Cap, again about Stark's issues.
This shows that Cap is a tremendous guy, sure... but the focus is on Tony Stark. Any of the other heroes on Captain's side could have narrated that letter at the end.
And that's why I think the movie's main character is actually Iron Man.
Sure, he wears red white and blue on the outside, but on the inside? It turns out Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, supports the evil, former Nazi organization, Hydra.
In another thread I found out Cap putts from the rough. Now this. It's a sad day for me gents.

Absolutely just a gimmick to sell comics. They've done stuff like this many times before.
Yea has to be a gimmick. Would be stupid on so many levels.

This got me thinking, bear with me here, that we can.
Mod sets up a "Spoilers" thread. Give it the limitation of not showing up on the front page (I know that's a function as IE updates don't show up and many of th '18 recruits accidentally don't). Make your spoiler post in that thread. Then to post the spoiler in the right thread, use the http://spoiler url. Linking the spoiler post from the other thread.
Then all spoilers, in any thread, will just show up as a hyperlinked "Spoiler". Like how Whiskey posts articles.
Just a thought.
I'm going to disagree. While you could make the argument that everything a comic book company does is intended to sell comics, these kind of story lines are more of a reflection that comics books are now by and for bored 30 year-olds who need everything to be corrupt and perverted to be worth while.
Because Superman and Captain America are anything but, they are always going to be special targets who constantly need to be reinvented and taken down a few pegs to be interesting. Everyone needs to be Batman/Wolverine.
So, for example, even though Marvel is making an absolute KILLING selling the old-fashioned Cpt. America on screen, they're going to constantly face pressure to screw him up to make things "more interesting."
DC can't resist the temptation and, as a result, is really trying hard to screw up Superman.
Actually comic wise they are switching everything back to the way it used to be.
You can always just do the white text trick. Like this.....
SPOILERS: Snape kills Dumbledore
And then whoever wants to read it can just highlight the section marked spoilers to make it show up.
Im sorry this reference went over my head, could i get a quick explanation.
Ha. She's Penelope the One Upper. It was a sketch on SNL.
