What do you not understand????

This.

That film, a 115 Sparq, a 4.01 shuttle, a schedule full of New Orleans area, 5A/top division competition playing for a 1 loss, Top 15 team all lead me to believe he's worth an offer... especially when I think back to Will Fuller being rated basically the same as him and Stepherson rated waaaay below him.

Plus, dude's got a mean streak when it comes to blocking. Looks like someone HH would want if he were 6-6, 300

I am in agreement on both points. Denbrock rules! He is definitely part of the new ND recruiting steamroller!

And as far as other school's (lack of) offers : WTF?!?!

"An ideal visit will be June 18th for the Irish Invasion," said Young.

"It's an honor mainly because Notre Dame is such a prestigious school, both athletically and academically," said Young. "It means a lot to me and my family. Really, it's somewhere where I can compete on and off the field."
Don't understand this offer at all...
also there was a small breakdown on his traits....has the speed to beat you deep, advanced route running and blocking skills RARELY seen at this age it says

Liking the numbers overall but is 4.67 really "top end"?

correction..in going back and looking at the info it just said speed to beat you deep

i clarified in post above

4.67 electronic or laser is fast for HS...that wasn't stop watch time...and also ranks in the 95 percentile...i would say that's pretty damn good

also of note....that was the EXACT time of Donnie Corley last year using the SAME timing

Ahhh yes!!! It's a grand Spring tradition to state that our newest skilled recruit is "not a burner" (i.e., lacks top end speed). It's as venerable as stating that every OLinmen is a better guard prospect.

The not a burner list is long and glorious: Procise, Brent, Adams, Holmes, Stepherson, Williams, St. Brown... even Fuller didn't have "elite" speed.

The only kids I remember that we admitted to having top end speed were Attkinson and Sanders (although their were some disputes). I can't remember how Chris Brown or Hunter were labeled. My guess is "fast, but not a burner."

I think, at this point, we know how the staff recruits: BIG and pretty fast, medium and fast, or small and really fast.

If we like this kid, I'm sure he's fast enough.

Chris Brown was labeled 10.51 100.

Please don't forget Devonte Neal... even though thou barely knew thee.

The only nitpick I had from that run in '12 was that Neal should've gotten some more touches. Even with the writing on the wall, they should've used that speed while they had it.

Not trying to bag on the kid. The "rarely seen at his age" was a little over the top perhaps. Perhaps they were just talking about his blocking skills, or route running.

I know. I was trying to be funny.

But we do have a good track record of recruiting kids who are actually fast. Those who aren't, like Robinson, have other qualities that made them obvious takes in their own right.

Saying a kid would be a better OG than OT, or is fast but doesn't have elite speed, is kind of a recruiting truism that makes you sound incredibly reasonable, whether the statement is true or not.

I'm thinking with his build, he's quicker than fast!

Barry Sanders

Jerry Rice is probably a good example; although I think he may just be one of those racehorses that can't run fast until he is chasing/chased.

Peter Warrick was fast, just not elite fast like he seemed.

Barry Sanders is just flat wrong! He was fast as hell. He was just everything.
