I don't know why we just couldn't wait it out with this kid. Seems there won't be any room for him in this class. I like him a lot better then Adams but the staff wanted a big back.

Also how did Cal football become so bad!!! Every time I watch one of there games on TV, it just looks like a beautiful place.

Hash tag Cal Gang Bitch

I think the athletic department had limited $$ so the coaching staff wasn't paid much at all compared to rival staffs. I'm guessing the facilities by comparison are weak as well.

PAC-12 has stacked coaches, and every program seems to have risen the last 2-4 years apart from Cal.

Stanford and Oregon are obviously perennial Top-10 teams. USC is USC. UCLA has made huge strides under Mora. Arizona and AZ State are much, much better off under RichRod and Graham than they were with Stoops and Erickson. Washington under Sark and now Petersen seems to be Top-25 team and WSU with Leach was in a bowl last year. Riley always has OSU as a sneaky contender. Conference really just has a lot of great coaches.

The campus is stunning. As to why the team has gone into the toilet? Coaching or lack thereof I suppose. It seemed as though every time they were in a position to be a really good team over the past decade or so they just fell apart mentally. Probably too much of that Nor Cal Chronic. Haha.

They haven't had a successful quarterback since Aaron Rodgers. At least with Tedford, you knew they would be .600-ish and would run a NFL pro-set offense. Tedford simply never got a quarterback and middling too many years caused the coaching change.

There was a while when I thought they might turn the corner, based entirely on how much they lower the bar for student-athletes (polar opposite of Notre Dame) and having Tosh Lupoi on staff. We'll that didn't pan out and now they're starting over with a losing tradition (52-44 in Tedford's last 8 seasons, since losing Rodgers to the NFL, 3-9 in his last and with Sonny Dykes going 1-11 (0-9 in conference play) in his first year that means the Golden Bears have gone 4-20 over the last two seasons).

With the rise of competition in the PAC-12, somebody has to be the bottom dweller... looks like it's the Golden Bears.

I've still got my money on Dykes to get it turned around.

USC 247 poster claiming a very good source told him that Lovette to ND is about a done deal.

With Newsome off the board he would be a nice APB addition to go along with Sanders

Hope that rumor is true. He's the kind of guy who can really add an extra gear to an offense.

Would love Lovette and Jamabo. I understand getting Adams in case we miss on Soso but part of me hopes he decomitts if we do get Jamabo. Just won't need him really. Would much rather have lovette who compliments Soso well

With Mahone gone, I think one of them would have to log minutes as a true freshman so you could stagger the eligibility to help with some of that.

I also think Malik could be great as a straight WR who runs some sweeps now and then.

His film reminds me of Dexter McCluster.

Let's lock up that OV for UM.

I really like what Lovette brings to the table as an offensive weapon (APB). I think of Adams as an ATH and if we finish the way I think we do or should he won't log many if any carries while at ND. Like what he brings as an ATH but i don view him as a playoff contention RB. S/OLB gets me interested.

I dont agree with this. Lovette is more of a slot WR that may run a jet sweep every now and then, but I dont see him taking too many carries. We do need some more RBs, so Adams and Soso would fill that need nicely. Plus, Adams is more of a power back that would be welcomed.

I have to say that I appreciate your opinion but coaches across the country very much disagree with your sentiment on Lovette and it's been touched on many times. Also, this whole Adams is a power back is completely unfounded. It's something that we are making up. There's nothing that suggests that when watching his running style. I get it's due to his height but being a power back is more than just being tall.

If Lovette were to jump onboard, how would that affect our recruitment of Soso and ESB? I can't imagine we would say no to either one, obviously. I guess I'm just trying to figure out where he (Malik) would fit in this class and on the team.

Besides an unusual first name, I think Notre Dame would be getting another Amir Carlisle. Extraordinary high school running back, but college? And the wide receiver corp is becoming a clogged artery with similar skill sets - Justin Brent, Corey Holmes, Will Fuller, Chris Brown, Tori Hunter, Amir Carlisle, and recent SPARQ warrior, C J Sanders. Newsome himself recognized that there are far too many shopping carts in Notre Dame's aisle number five. Malik Lovette is not Calvin Ridley, or Reggie Bush, for that matter. And, as far as an artist, those are some silly ass drawings that belong in a school girl's notebook!

Not sure I agree. Not every recruit pans out for whatever reason (injury, slow to pick up offense, transfer, academics, etc.). Having a large group gives us a better shot of always having some studs on the field at all times.

An insider on the USC 247 board that is usually pretty reliable said he no longer has an actionable offer from Notre Dame
