A lot of the expert break downs ive read don't like the pick either...

Isn't the main reason that some of the talking heads don't like the pick is because he won't help Dallas this year? All of them are saying that if he comes back healthy, it will be a steal and look like a genius move. Given that their doctor performed the surgery, that should be a good sign for the future.

I love how Jason Garrett eyes just lit up when he got the first question on Jaylon during last night's pc. He was just so excited about him. They just took a top5 talent in the second round and they know it. What a pick by the cowboys.

That plus they don't know how well the nerves will recover. Per Will Carroll from Fanduel, when Jaylon was examined at the combine, the nerves had not made anywhere near the progress they had anticipated.

Surprised he was taken this early, but happy for him. He deserves it. Hope he turns out to have an All Pro career on a win less Cowboy team.

NFL Draft coverage is all conjecture about perceived value.

What really matters is whether you got a player who is going to play in the league and make an impact. If Cowboys fans feel they need their 2nd Round pick to be a major contributor in getting to the playoffs or Super Bowl in 2016, then are they really that close to success to begin with?

Two years ago, Dallas picked DeMarcus Lawrence with the exact same pick Jaylon went (#34). Lawrence broke his foot and barely played in his rookie year, and then last year he had 8.0 sacks and is one of the best players on their defense.

Last few #34 picks... Justin Hunter, Coby Fleener, Aaron Williams, Patrick Chung, Devin Thomas, Paul Posluszny. Some decent players, but the upside of a Jaylon Smith far exceeds the player you are generally going to get at pick #34.

As a lifelong cowboy fan I was nearly moved to tears. What a moment and what fun it is going to be watching Jaylon with the glorious star on his helmet !!!

so happy for Jaylon!! but Dallas (and Philly) were the ONLY 2 teams I didn't want him going to as a Giant fan.
Giants having HORRIBLE draft with favorite ND player in last couple decades going to of all places Dallas...I'm melting!!!!

For all the shit the Cowboys get, and rightfully so sometimes, he likes to draft good people as much as good players. They like to draft locker room guys for the most part. Randy Gregory being the outlier over the last couple drafts, too much value to pass up at that point.

Cmon Lucc...were all happy for Jaylon and all; but i'm not buyin that BS for one second on Jerry Jones.

to wit:

Joseph Randle, Greg Hardy, Randy Gregory, Sam Hurd, Jay Ratliff, Josh Brent, Dez Bryant., Tony Spencer...sure are some great folks ole Jerry brought in to his team of choir boys.

Haha, did you even bother to read the post before commenting. I quoted a post talking about Jason Garrett, not Jerry Jones. Also, I said within the last couple of years and you go ahead and bring up guys that were drafted 5-10 years ago and some that weren't even drafted by the Cowboys. Cmon man, pay attention.

Hate the Cowboys - Martin being a rock star there and now Jaylon... why can't my Bears ever pick up some ND talent?

The Boys startin' to take on a blue and gold hue. If Jaylon recovers from injury and plays to his potential, he will own the town here.

Adidas, cmon now

Exactly. Screw the Krauts... Buy 'Murica!

He'll yes...it might actually fit like man clothes...I'm a Steelers fan, but I'm buying one...

I can't be happier with the way UA clothing fits. I'm a biscuit south of 285 and all of the 2X jersey's and shirts have been spot on except one Shamrock Series T-Shirt that was definitely a slim, hipster cut. Have had the same luck with the shoes. Adidas shoes are like Chinese foot binding.
