Hell yeah, I didn't know Jaylon lived in Stanford! Would have been a solid addition to the Griffin interhall team

Is that a sign that Daelin Hayes is redshirting?

No. Defensive and offensive players can wear the same number. Well any 2 players can wear the same number as long as they aren't on the filed at the same time.

Edit: What those ^^^ guys said. I believe Bennett Jackson and someone else (Chris Brown maybe) were both on the field at the same time during the Pittsburgh game in 2012 when Pitt missed that FG in OT but the refs didn't realize it. Could have been very costly haha. For that reason, I've never been a fan of players wearing the same number even if it's highly unlikely that they are ever on the field together.

C.J. Sanders wore #3 at Notre Dame H.S. and #8 at Brentwood Academy. Does he switch with Zaire or take Carlisle's number...

I'm guessing 3, since I'm assuming Sebastian will be playing Special Teams for us, and they don't want the same number on the field...again...

Hope he still wins out. Still like his leadership and confidence. Won't be upset if Kizer wins though.

No matter what road life takes him down, I hope wild success follows him everywhere.

I loved Zaire's interview. Seems like an A+ guy and I wouldn't be upset in the least if he was our starter, nor surprised.

Kizer's thread gets all the QB talk, Malik's needs some love, so I'm leaving this here from MS Paint Like a Champion

As a fellow lefty I have a soft spot for Zaire. I think he is incredibly gritty and competitive as well as a superior leader. I still can see how Kizer might be the better overall QB but honestly at the end of a game and you need a score or need to play keep away from the other offense Zaire is the QB I want with the ball in his hands.

Yeah, went back and watched the LSU game recently. It was amazing to see him make plays with his feet, he's so elusive and doesn't go down easily...he falls forward a lot for extra yards. That block Zaire threw to allow Folston to score was pretty special too. It wasn't a monster block by any means, but it's rare you see a QB out in front like that, blocking for another guy. I think it's a great testament to Zaire's speed that he was able to hand the ball off, then get out in front to make that play. It says a lot about his leadership and selling out for his teammates too.

None of this is any slight to Kizer's running ability, he's certainly good in his own right. I'm just concurring with your assessment. If the game is on the line, I've got no problem with Zaire taking the snap because he's going to give the defense fits as a true dual threat.

So you think Kizer is the better QB but you want Zaire to be in at the end of the game? :)

I wanted to bring this thread back and talk about the video made for the little kid that became a member of the Red Army. Malik's participation in that, everything he said, and did, makes me want to wish that he wins the battle, almost!

Seriously, what a great guy!

(What a couple of great guys!)

100%. It may not make sense to all but I feel you just know what a "gamer" is when you see one. A guy who just has "it" and that's what I see when Zaire plays and the style with which he plays is rather inspiring. He simply looks like he wants it more and has an infectious energy in his playing style. Yes, that is the guy I want with the ball in his hands with the game on the line.

lol I'm clearly team MZ but I know DK has the experience and possibly the better passing ability but that shouldn't change the fact that BK is correct in getting two of his best offensive threats involved in a winning effort on the field.

This is exactly how I feel. There's something about the energy Malik brings to the field, he's just fun to watch. I understand coaches like to have a QB that doesn't go through a roller coaster of emotions, and even keel guy so to speak. They've said Malik can be an emotional guy and passionate, but I don't think we've really seen the lows from him, just the highs. Even in the USC game where we were getting blown out and Golson got benched, Zaire came in and was trying to pick guys up and raise the morale. It was really cool to see how he interacted with little Kellen in that video that was posted in the other thread, gonna repost here.

Zaire will still be a tremendous leader for the team, even if he isn't starting. However, if the o-line is as legit as most people are predicting, I think the smart move is to give Zaire the keys to the kingdom. We will destroy with the run. I'm not expecting our receivers to be nearly as beneficial to the QB's success as they were last year. This is due to youth and inexperience.

To add to that though, if the receiving corps does turn up big and early, based on the relatively low pass protection ratings of our opponents, I think it's all Kizer. But Kelly will get them both time, so that come playoffs, we will have options to threaten with.

Haha, as others have noted, this debate is funny though, because we are silly fortunate to have the riches we do at this position.
