how good will the ND men bball team be next year?
Honestly? Probably not that good. Unless some unproven guys really, really, really step up.

I'm excited to see what Temple Gibbs can do at PG. 247 Composite has him #75 in the country, so he's one of the better recruits Brey has ever pulled in.
No offense to Farrell, but I hope he's not a starter. Can be great off the bench, but he'd have to take a big step forward for me to be comfortable with him getting big-time minutes next season.
No clue what we're going to do at Center. Any lineup with Colson at the 5 seems like it can only be used in short spurts. I'm not sure how realistic it is to expect Geben or Mooney or Burns to play a big role....would love a transfer or late big man recruit to come in.
PG: Gibbs/Farrell.
SG: Vasturia/Pflueger
SF: Beachem
PF: Ryan
C: Colson
These 7 seem assured of playing time. I think Beachem/Ryan give us enough height that we can get away with playing 4 guards and not get completely killed on defense. We need another big man to emerge. I think we can be a fringe top-25 team if we get that. Losing DJ/Auguste sucks, but every other player on our team should take pretty large step forwards.
Does anyone do basketball recruit profiles? I'd be willing to start if someone told me how to do it

I know nothing about Gibbs but he needs to be good because Farrell isn't.
Vasturia is a good player but was awful in this years tourney.
Beachem will have to be the star on the team next year.
Ryan I think can be good but this will be his first year with significant playing time.
Colson is so inconsistent it isn't funny. One game he plays lights out the next he can barley rebound.
I understand the acc is losing a lot of good players this year to the draft but the players Duke,UNC, and others get are players we could only dream about.
Problem is I'm not an insider anywhere
Hopefully the elijah burns kid can step up
So I take it Geben is not a factor next year?
All reports are that he is really starting to come into his own and finally developing

The last good class we had was 2013. You would think that the total success of the program would help in that Dept. So do that mean Brey blows as a recruiter?
Matt Ryan, Rex Pflueger, and Elijah Burns isn't a good class?
Don't sleep on the 2016 class either. Temple Gibbs is the highest rated recruit Brey has landed since DJ and with the little size we have in the front court, John Mooney could be playing a lot of minutes next year
Mike Brey has always brought in mostly 3 stars and some 4 stars. He recruits kids that fit the program and it has worked very well.

Acc ranking 7th. National ranking 44 And I understand that ranking isn't everything but it does have value.
Recruiting has always been like that though and it will stay like that until kids want to start playing school too. Brey will always be at a disadvantage where he has to work harder to develop his players than other coaches like Calapari, Self, and Coach K.
For example, Jerian Grant (a member of #51 overall class in 2010) and Pat Connaughton (member of the #47 overall class in 2011) were 2 points away from beating the 2nd best UK team ever (IMO) and advancing to the final four. Yeah, having an occasional top 20 class would be sweet but we have all seen Brey doesn't need a top 20 class to be successful.
Also, it doesn't help that Notre Dame basketball takes a back seat to Notre Dame football. If Swarbrick spent half the time on the mens team as he did with the football team, we'd probably see Notre Dame make a few final four appearances.
All very good points. I also thought being in the acc would help us recruit some. Who wouldn't want to beat some of the best UVA, UNC, Duke?
