ND has lost all confidence, especially Jackson.

At this point, maybe his draft stock will fall far enough that'll he'll be incentivized to come back next year, and we can get Thon?...

I guess Brey must think we're comfortably in at this point, because he's really been bad, and we keep going with him. I'm not suggesting benching him or anything dumb like that, but he needs to sit for a spell to get his head on straight. He's really killed us tonight (along with Steve).

Ever time we've cut it to single digits, he's had a turnover or defensive lapse that gave them a bucket.

It's a shame, because Auguste looks like he's ready to do work, and he's just got no one to help.

P.S. - I don't hate our 2-3 as much as most people, but you simply can't play it with two of our "bigs" (Torres and Colson + Auguste) in the game. They are just sooo slow we can't recover.

And again.

After a 3 by DJ, coming out of a timeout, Vasturia has no idea where the ball is and doesn't help at all.

We've had some bad defensive teams before, but I don't remember a time where we've been so poor and, sometimes with our line-ups, just outmatched defensively.

ND just sucked to end the season. Not going anywhere in this tourney, I am afraid.

Unless something dramatically changes this tourney is going to be extremely quick. Both of them.

This team is so weird we beat duke AT duke then beat UNC and Lousiville and then literally just stop playing offense. Idk if they just got rly tired or they just figured we made the tourney and just gave up idk.

And I'm kinda siding with fightingirishlover7 that I'm hoping DJ stock is dropping so he comes back and we get thon

After some of the flops recently, it wouldn't surprise me if ND comes out and wins....just hope it happens because I think these 2 closing games are important for what happens next. Go Irish.

What the hell was I thinking? Pitiful performance.

The defense has been garbage, but that's way it's been all year. The offense has been lousy the last four games. Getting down 12-0 almost immediately at home does not lead to wins.

I've also noticed that the team gives up points late in the first half- we cut the lead to 29-22 with like 2 minutes left in the half and then found ourselves down 35-22 when the buzzer sounded. Not good.

I still think the team is radically underperforming relative to their potential right now and can make a run in the tournament. Given past tourney performances, though, I see why everyone is skeptical.

Check out @tnoieNDI's Tweet:

Man, if Kelly ever said this, this board would implode.

True, but at least Brey is being candid with everyone.

First ACC game I've missed this year. What a mess these last couple weeks have been. We suck right now plain and simple. Even if we beat NC State, I think we have to make the ACC Semis just to ensure that we are off the 8/9 line.

I think we're a tired team and it's showing, especially on defense. Brey has never been big about going deep in his bench. How long are his practices now? I know a lot of coaches like to pare back practice time and the physicality of the practice later in the season just to keep the team fresh.

We are actually doing better on defense as of late. If someone said Miami scored 68pts I would say we probably won. We aren't winning cause we can't score.

GT only scored 63. Wake 58. FSU 77 and Miami 68. That's an average of 66 a game. This year we averaged 75pts before these past 4 games. I'm thinking if I heard those numbers then I would have beat we won at least 3 of those games.

Offense is just in a massive funk and they need to get out of it very fast.

I have avoided commenting on the past two weeks, but this is what ND is this year. Road games we have been, overall, well below average. Sure we won at Duke and Clemson, but that is about it. We got blown out a few times and generally start slow. That is the concern heading into the NCAA's. For us to make a run, we need DJ playing consistently like a lottery pick (which he has not done), ZA to play at a high level all game (which he really hasn't done since last March) Bonzie and VJ to be serviceable on the defensive end while playing well on O and to have some scoring off the bench. When ND played well this year, those things happened to some degree. Consistency is lacking.

Finally, we need DJ or SV to takeover on offense when things are going bad. I feel like both of them can do it ( and have done it during certain points of various games, like L'ville) but do not do it enough to stop a mini 5-0 run. Grant did it last year and we have not filled that void yet.

Outside of ZA, none of the things happened above last night. I am still shocked that between DJ and SV, we don't have a player that we can count on to get a bucket to stop momentum.

The only person that was looking aggressive last night was ZA and BC for the first 3 minutes of the second half. It was terrible and was exactly the same thing that happened @ Miami.

Is there some strategy to this that I don't understand? What is the advantage in not having a deep bench? Is there some reason ND cannot develop one?

Tipping off now on CBS. Need to win this one and get some momentum for next week. Somehow, we can still get the double-bye if we win and Duke loses to UNC later tonight. If we win, we're a lock lock for the 4 or 5 seed. If we lose, we're going to be anywhere from 5-7.

Am I going crazy, or has Auguste been wearing his shorts inside-out every game?

Am I going crazy or do we look like crap once again to an extremely inferior team?

Looking better now at least. Funny to see Brey expand the bench. I doubt he does it next week or in the NCAA Tournament, but we pretty blatantly had tired legs the last couple weeks.

True I like how many guys are playing cause obviously our starters can't play.

I think they have scored on 10 straight possessions after we were playing great D

That might have been one of our best half of the year. Looking lay solid with some fresh legs in there it's pretty amazing. Matt Farrell is +13 when in and DJ is -4 when he is in. No way anyone could have seen that coming.

I'm hoping Brey keeps DJ on bench for now. Also never thought I would say that

So who starts next week over Burgett? Ryan or Colson? I'm leaning Ryan.
