Wow the last couple of pages are absolute BS arguing over tweets. Do better, fellas.

What was the actual Intel that made everyone switch CB's back to Oklahoma? It seems like that info is just as vague as the big switch to ND a week or so ago. I honestly think no one knows anything at this point.

Welp, I hope we see you in the playoffs Kelly. Or better yet, I hope you see us in the playoffs from your Norman polyester couch.

Still hope you get a degree at OU, even if the odds aren't in your favor. Best of luck.

With just one week until Signing Day, Notre Dame’s coaching staff is covering the country in pursuit of some final key pieces to their 2016 recruiting class. Last night, that brought Brian Kelly, Mike Denbrock and Mike Elston to Fresno, California, where the staff went in-home with 5-star recruit and high school Butkus Award winner Caleb Kelly.

While some quotes are already trickling in from Kelly, who spoke with Irish 247 after Notre Dame’s staff left the family house, Twitter provided some nice updates as well (including some recruiting from some Irish commits):

At this point, discussing the on-field piece of the puzzle is finished. Kelly profiles as an outside linebacker in Notre Dame’s system, with the possibility to grow and put a hand on the ground and rush the passer as his career continues. With a linebacking corps that needs rebuilding after 2015, Kelly has an opportunity to step in and play a variety of spots—something Blue & Gold’s Bryan Driskell broke down earlier this week.

With the football out of the way, Kelly and his mom hosted Notre Dame’s staff, the final in-home visit from the Irish coaching staff before Kelly announces his intentions at 5:30 p.m. local time next Wednesday.

“It was fun,” Kelly told Tom Loy of Irish 247. “It was great hanging out with everyone, just relaxing, talking about everything. It was pretty casual and just laid back.”

Once again, it looks like Notre Dame will be battling Oklahoma for Kelly’s commitment, with Bob Stoops and company already well established in California’s Central Valley. But the Irish staff feels good about their chances with one of the top players in the country, and this recruitment will likely last until a fax rolls into a football office Wednesday evening.

I went back and didn't see this posted, hopefully I didn't miss it. Just prior to the in home Biggins still felt ND controlled it's destiny with Caleb but that it is VERY close

You know what I just remembered...everyone had Lorenzo Booker going to ND the day he announced. And at the last minute he decided to go to FSU. The whole FSU staff had left for the day and no one was there to receive the fax ;)

Lorenzo Booker made his announcement to sign with FSU at a nationally televised press conference. He was widely expected to choose ND but made the flip after being handed a celll phone from somebody backstage while waiting for the press conference to begin. . The call was from FSU and Booker was impressed that FSU keep pitching right up to the last minute while everybody else had stopped calling.

There was a flap about this being an illegal call but if I recall correctly there was some weasely ruling that the call was not made to Booker's phone but to someone else who handed him the phone.

Booker had an amazing HS career scoring around 100 TDs but didn't come close to those number in college. At FSU Booker never had a 1000 yd season nor scored more than 4 TDs in a season.

Willingham had trouble recruiting RBs (in addition to most other positions) and it carried over into the Weis years and beyond.

'02 (Booker's Year) Jeff Jenkins, Nate Schiccatano
'03 Ashley McConnell, Travis Thomas
'04 Justin Hoskins, Darius Walker, (DB Junior Jabbe)
'05 FB Asaph Schwapp
'06 James Aldridge, Munir "Swoosh" Prince, Luke Schmidt
'07 Armando Allen, Robert Hughes
'08 Jonas Gray
'09 Theo Riddick, Cierre Wood
'10 Cameron Roberson
'11 (ATH George Atkinson III), Cam McDaniel
'12 William Mahone, (DB CJ Prosise)
'13 Greg Bryant, Tarean Folston,
'14 -
'15 Josh Adams, Dexter Williams

Of these 25 players in 14 classes there are a couple of transfers and position switches and only a couple of real producers.

Why's Travis Thomas listed in 03 and 04?

Sloppy cutting and pasting. Travis was recruited in '03 only. Thanks for catching my error.

'04 should have been Justin Hopkins. I corrected my post and added Junior Jabbie who was recruited as a DB but converted to reserve RB.

Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly and lead assistant Mike Denbrock visited Caleb KellyKelly Tuesday night and made a strong impression. This comes on the heels of Oklahoma coming in the home last week and gaining a lot of momentum back for the Sooners. Mike Stoops has been relentless in his pursuit of Kelly and no one is recruiting Kelly harder. This one is an absolute coin toss right now and will go down to the wire..

he could play his freshman year but I dont see him being as good as Jaylon Smith. Though he is a similar prospect as far as being a fast linebacker

Can the assistants visit him again before NSD or is there a quiet period the days before? Its only 36 hours from Savannah to Fresno. Maybe make an equipment truck appearance outside Kelly's house also?

Is he a potential starter Day 1?

He's a day 1, 2 deep prospect, IMO. Not a day 1 starter though. He's got a really nice frame for an OLB but he needs to add strength and he's not as quick or fast as say a Jaylon Smith was at the juncture. So when Jaylon showed up he could use his speed, quickness, and agility that was superior to the level of talent on the field. Caleb won't have that luxury, yet. However, I do think Bryan Driskell's write up was spot on about how good of a SAM LB prospect he is for this system.
