Lynch was a big time EE.

Understood, but the question still remains. Have we ever had a more important group of players EE'ing? We have two potential contributors in the front seven with Kareem and Hayes and we have two potential secondary contributors in Studstill and Perry.

Both are areas of need.

I'd argue the 2011 EE class. Lynch, Ishaq, Golson, Brindza and Carrico.

Lynch and Ishaq were expected to play a ton and possibly start. Golson to compete for starting QB job. Brindza as the backup place kicker and punter, also was the kickoff specialist. Carrico wasn't expected to have a big impact his freshman year.

I'd say 2016 and 2011 EE classes are very close in importance for the players freshman year.

I don't think Golson was ever s consideration to start in his frosh year. Wasn't that the Crist/Rees debacle season?

Kareem: "Kareem is an ideal fit for the Notre Dame defense. His body type and game is quite similar to current Irish starting strongside end Isaac Rochell. Kareem has a strong frame, possessing a thick build, long arms and the potential to be a 280-pound edge player. At this point is game is about power, and Kareem uses his power to get movement and penetration against the run game."

Thanks for posting these. Reps. I think a little misconception about Khalid is that he's all power. Though that is a strength of his game he was beating the OT's during the Semper Fi game with speed edge rushes and double moves as well. So more to his game than just power.

Yeah, it felt like he was in the QB's face on 80% of the pass plays in that game.

If he gets to 280 and still maintains his current speed off the edge, he will be an AA and a future lottery pick. The young man is a hoss and a great get for the Irish.

He has the same size frame and thickness as Dwight Freeney. He just needs to study some Dwight Freeney tape when he was with the Colts. Spin move, undercut, double spin and bull rush.

Give or take 3 inches.

4 star I agree with but 287 overall. Gotta say that I'm not sure there are 286 players I'd rather have.

So he's lower then Okwara? I like Julian but in my eyes Kareem is a borderline top 100 player

Damn that's a lot of 4 star players. I would think that by player #287 they would be talking about 3 star players. To me it kind of cheapens the 4 stars. Shows what I know.

Anyway, that is a crazy ranking for a kid who apparently is much better than that. But Scout has been very fair to ND commits and recruits so I guess I shouldn't really complain or say there is a bias against ND.

Scout 4 :s: and #287 overall

Dd he drop in the overall rankings? The front page has him listed as 232 overall. Pretty crazy if that's the case. The guy dominates all week in practice and is named MVP of the Semper Fi game and then drops in rankings.

Dude, you been smoking some good shit when you get home at night. There are a slew of guys that have played in that game that have and will ball out on saturdays. Guys that have played in Semper Fi.

Too many 4 stars? Seriously? Over 3,000 kids sign with FBS schools each year.

I saw this posted on some site, supposedly from a recruiting services talking head...

5 stars are for future NFL 1st rounders.

4 stars are for future NFL players

3 stars are solid contributors at the DI level

2 stars are depth at DI or players at lower levels.

1 & 0 stars are tailgating with us on Saturdays this fall.

IMO that is silly. I take the rankings to simply reflect the talent level of the kid at that point in time.

I have no idea. But projectiing a 17 year old HS five years down the road is such an inexact science I don't put a lot of stock in it.

Well there's a billion dollar industry that thinks they can do it, silly or not.

Both points are right on target!

Are they starting to give out four stars like candy, as political favors, and popularity awards?

I think for about the fourth year, (and it has proven out for the last three), this ND class has some grossly underrated players. And Khalid is among the most conspicuous!

The cool thing about the trend over four years, is that our 'extremely underrated' classes are getting rated more highly than the one the previous year! This means our recruiting staff keeps getting better, or others in the business are recognizing their acumen!

Yep, there's more than I listed, that was just off memory of some ND guys and standouts.

Go back as far and crrate a list for the us army game and the under Armour game. Not even close to the same amount of talent. By far the weakest of the 3 all star games.

Yup, too many. Dilutes it and makes it less special IMHO when you have 275 4 stars. I can see the other side but that large of a number kinda surprised me. And nice of you to include all those kids at Tulane and North Texas and Rice and Sam Houston and MANY more schools et al among your 3,000. You can probably slash that # in more than when considering all the schools that aren't in the top 40 or so schools.
