Henry really that much of a favorite? This award is so annoying - not even anyone nominated unless they are a top 10 team. "best player on the best team" BS bores me - I won't be watching - again.

How is Henry that much of a favorite? I actually thought over-hyped McCaffrey was going to pull it off.

Maybe they looked at the stats and seen that McCaffrey played like seven teams with defenses ranked 70th or worse - five I think were ranked in the 100's. Not for sure but it was quite a few. Kid balled out but it was against less than stellar competition most of the time. On the other hand, Henry played his best against the higher rated defenses he faced. Don't know who will win but when you actually break down who did what against who, Henry looks much better.

I wouldn't even have McCaffrey in my top 3. Very good player, but his stats are a complete fraud. And he's not even one of the 3 most talented RUNNING BACKS this year.

1. Henry
2. Watson
3. Mayfield

McCaffrey's fraudulent APY record is primarily due to a bunch of 20-30 yard returns that anybody can do. I'll give him due credit for when he breaks one for 30+ yards but when a huge chunk of your yardage is practically worthless that does nothing for me.

I think Henry won it the night Fournette got shut down and Henry went off. It will be interesting to see who has the more successful pro career.

I don't know every player in college football but I can't think of a better player than Henry. Bama hater or not that guy is freaking awesome.

I know there are a lot of soft defenses in the PAC-12...that being said, even if you take out the return yards, his stats are Heisman-finalist worthy. 1,847 rushing yards on 5.8 per carry. Also led the team in receptions (41) and yards (540). I think any RB on a top-6 team would get invited with those numbers.

Their leading rusher last year had 601 yards. Taylor before that obviously had crazy high rushing numbers. I know they pound the ball, but I don't think they're at the Wisconsin level where voters would discount his stats due to their system. Throw in the fact that he also threw for 2 touchdowns and had a return TD and he is an easy finalist IMO.

What's your argument for Mayfield also? I like him, but I can't even tell who is great in that conference and who is putting up numbers based on the terrible defenses. IMO the only difference between Mayfield and Boykin is that Mayfield had a competent defense. Russell and Rudolph in that conference were putting up similar numbers. Mayfield was a step above, but that conference is built for QBs and WRs to put up video game numbers.

One of the knocks on him has been that he hasn't had many spectacular moments like most Heisman winners do. He's just been a workhorse that piled up yards and never seemed to tire... more dependable semi than jaw-dropping Ferrari. The fact that he's been at his best in the biggest games, faced a lot of good defenses who sold out to stop him, and didn't pad his stats against weak teams when the game was out of reach makes his accomplishments this year impressive. Running for 2000 yds at this level is amazing. I know I'm biased, but dang he's been a beast and fun to watch.

I take it that you like him?

Of course I do. Don't you? He might be the best prospect/highest drafted QB ND has ever had. He has a superb skill set and the physical attributes to match. Offense BK is churning up plays in his favor as well.

2017 easily the favorite going into the year IMO, he might win it next year.

Ah yes, that guy who helped propel Alabama to their usual performance this season. Should have gone to Dalvin Cook or Keenan Reynolds. Very pedestrian choice.
