This is the best thing to happen to ND for Saturday.

Agreed. The polls are fluid guys. If we can beat Stanford by a couple scores and OU struggles to a close win with osu, it could easily be flip flopped. Plenty still to happen.

New Year's Eve Bowl, Here We Come!!!

New Year's Eve Bowl, Here We Come!!!

Which one will it be boys?

gkIrish, I make good on my end and apologize completely for arguing.

I guess I was hoping to make a mental fallacy. Perception vs Reality I suppose.

What the fuck are you talking about? Which Top 10 teams? Because TCU sure as hell isn't. So you must be talking about Baylor, was playing their first game with their true freshman backup QB.

And if/when they beat Oklahoma State, the Cowboys will be ranked somewhere around #15-#20.

Assuming Navy wins out, they arguably better than any win Oklahoma has, except probably Baylor. Pittsburgh is as good as TCU. And Stanford will be as good as Oklahoma State. So then you're left with a top 25 Temple that will be comparable or better to Tennessee.

Show me where the difference is. I'll wait. (Hint: it doesn't exist).

And can you explain why no one questions Alabama's resume to this point?

I get it, eye test. But for the last 3 weeks, our schedule has been dissected by every pundit out there.

If OU's resume is that much better than our's, it's sure as hell better than Bama's.

I'm fairly pissed that they gave Oklahoma so much credit for beating TCU with the injuries.

The ranking is completely fair. ND looked less than stellar because of the red zone turnovers. If we score on each of those turns in the red zone, I believe we remain at 4. ND needs to dominate Stanford is all aspects of the game Saturday night to have a chance.

See, this is more what I expected from the beginning. We have no allies in that room, and we shouldn't expect to get in over a conference champ.

I'm disappointed that I ever believed we'd get a fair shake.

LOL COME ON! No one and I mean no one could have watched the last 2 games and say this is a Playoff team. Stop it. If they win Sat, there's a chance but stop it with the theories.

Oklahoma beating a injury ravaged TCU team by one after they missed a two point conversion is good enough for that kind of jump? Not sure how they explain that. Pretty sure they were rating us that high was just to troll us in the end.

I hate that the narrative is we were outgained by WF therefore we struggled, whereas Clemson beat them by a one point less margin. I get the BC narrative, totally fair but acting like Wake really hung with ND is BS.

I hate how yardage gained has been the crux of two weeks worth of bad play. It's score margins for some teams and other factors for others.

It's all good man. I've just been trying to head this off for a long time now because I saw it coming. Was trying to prepare my fellow Irish fans for this. Sucks though. Don't get how they jumped us this week.

IMO some GRADE A major shit has to happen for us to move up and stay up this week and for Championship week. I am kind of surprised Oklahoma moved up so much considering they almost lost to TCU...

Well hopefully this gives our boys some tackling fuel on Saturday. Go Irish!

No one can cry foul at the committee. If ND did what they were supposed to do against Wake and particularly BC, they'd be 3rd. We struggle to put away inferior teams every week and it finally caught up with us. We should have beaten Pitt by a lot more. We should have crushed BC. It goes on and on.

Take care of business and this problem never pops up. As it stands, our only shot is OU losing now. We no longer control our own fate. Disappointed but I saw this coming from a mile away. People are looking way too much into that head to head vs Texas BS. It doesn't matter.

Just prepping us for that same letdown you were trying to lube us up for I think.

Gotta hope UNC wins, Okie loses, and that we jail sex Stanford?

I think Oklahoma is overrated but still ND has no one to blame but themselves, their effort against BC was embarrassing and as I said at the time, it was the worst game in ND history given what was at stake. It's been clear the past two years, style points does matter and the committee doesn't care about good losses or cupcake wins, only how many quality wins.

If we beat Stanford and finish 11-1 then it was a heck of a season and we'll have a chance to get in the Final Four.

If this isn't motivation for them then they don't deserve to be in the Top 4, which isn't a terrible consolation either.

You had a chance to make a statement and didn't. You can either bury your head and give in or keep your head up and fight back. Fight or flight.

Now we did have something to do with this, playin so poorly. However we were solidly at 4 (per Long) and Oklahoma beat a team that with those injuries isn't even top 25 and did so by the slightest of margin. Also, Long just said that at the end of the season they'll look at the full body of work to find the best 4 teams, right now. Well don't those two things contradict each other.

I think it actually depends on what happens before kickoff. If MSU and Iowa both have already won, it will be hard to get pumped knowing 11-1 will get you to the Fiesta Bowl, and 10-2 will get you to the Fiesta Bowl.....Although OU-Okie Light playing when we do helps keep some of those home fires burning.

Not worried. Nebraska beats Iowa this week. We beat Stanford. It's between us and OK for fourth spot. It's go time baby!

MSU and Iowa both winning is more than likely irrelevant.

Really? I disagree.

How not?

When Pitt lost - "That hurts the Irish".
When Stanford lost - "That makes the match-up at the end of the season less meaningful"
When USC got beat by Oregon - "Notre Dame's strength of schedule took a hit today".

When LSU gets smoked 3 in a row? When Wisconsin gets beat by Northwestern? When Memphis beats Ole Miss? When Georgia tanks? - "The Tide are solidly in at 2".

I'd love to hear an argument that actually focuses on the merit's of Alabama's resume (the individual teams) and not the league.

I agree with Michigan State and Oklahoma jumping us because they have better wins but Iowa has 1 top 25 win now. But Iowa struggled with Indiana, against Minn, against Wisconsin, against Illinois and against Pitt I mean come on that's just dumb. I think Iowa get's beat anyways this week. If Iowa gets beat and Oklahoma loses we are in if we win, regardless we need to win to have any shot. If we lose we drop to 12-15

Well if they both lose, it's obvious at that point "win and you're in," so that would be optimal.

*Fuck: forgot OSU is still lurking in the shadows

Either Iowa or MSU loses at the Big 10 championship so that would take care of one of them. We need OK St to man up.
