Yeah: beat Penn State.

Ohh shit i was thinking ohio state and michigan were playing for a spot,
But thats only if MSU loses. I dont think the committee would rank MSU ahead of us even if we both win out unless they dominate and look really impressive. Im not sold on Iowa and MSU lost to Nebraska and got very lucky against Mich. They havent seemed very impressive

It's too bad the transitive property isn't a real thing in CFB. Our AAC wins (would) give us bragging rights since ND>Navy>Memphis>Ole Miss>Bama and Temple>Penn State. Our Texas win obviously looks pretty decent since ND>Texas>Oklahoma AND we beat Texas by more than Ok St did (they won by 3 compared to our 30+ points beatdown). Also, ND>USC>Utah>Michigan. This is a fun game when you've got a good record. Before anyone jumps in, YES, I understand the logical fallacy here, MOTHER.

Nah, assuming Iowa (12-0) v. Sparty (11-1) or Ohio St (11-1) in the B1G championship game, winner will jump us for sure. B1G's not safe for us unless Iowa loses to Nebraska and Michigan beats Ohio State next week.

:)

I've thought about busting out the transitive property to argue we're better than Bama, but it's a bridge too far.

Iowa hasn't played anyone? Who has ND played and beat that's impressive?

Funny thing is, is because the teams we beat this year that will be ranked well at season's end are not typically thought of as good teams, our wins are carrying less weight in public eye. Everyone scoffs at Navy and Temple, who besides a very flukey game to USF have only lost to ND, but those are two teams likely to finish in the Top 25.

Is there any scenario MSU can even play for the BIG 10 championship? I thought theyre out on that. If they cant win the big10 i dont see how theyre getting in the playoff barring a bunch of other teams ahead losing

OSU, Michigan, and MSU are the only teams in their division with only one loss to a conference opponent. MSU owns the head-to-head against OSU and Michigan so now if they win next week they are in. If they lose and OSU beats Michigan, OSU is in. If they lose and Michigan beats OSU, Michigan is in.

They've beaten both those teams and only lost 1 conference game. They win and they're in.

Yeah, I think USC getting motor-boated by Oregon really hurt our cause. Had they won out, they would have been a top 20, maybe even top 15 team, giving us a very respectable win. I think temple is a fundamentally sound football team, but wouldn't do well in any major conference. I think this year's Navy squad kicks ass and is a legit top 15 team. Their fullback is legend.

It's kind of funny that the way head to head works it rewards the team with the worst loss of three.

Yeah Iowa for sure if they win out. But im not sold on MSU jumping us, their resume would really not be much more impressive than our and they lost to Nebraska. Their win against Michigan was pure luck, they were beat. And theyve squeaked by some bad teams too so its not like theyve looked domianant. OSU may look good on paper but they havent looked that good all year either and everyone knows that. We would have pretty comparable wins and a "better" loss.

Sparty will have wins over Michigan, Ohio St, Iowa, and a once again impressive looking Oregon win. I dont see any way Sparty is left out if they win out. I think its more likely theyre 3 than theyre left out.

I think we're screwed with the Big unless Iowa loses next week and then beats MSU.

I expect Iowa to be #3 in the rankings next week with Nick the Great and that Dunce Dabo ahead of us.

The biggest concern I have at this point is Oklahoma. Ohh yeah and McCaffrey running for 250 yards next week.

Has anyone actually dove into Bama's schedule and realized they haven't played an extraordinarily tough slate? Not to mention the 3 absolute cupcakes they mix in as well. It's a moot point because the SEC champ is going to be top 4, but still seems like they're getting a pass.

Tuesday's rankings will tell us if we control our own destiny IMO. If we're even 1 spot ahead of Oklahoma, if we beat Stanford, we're in unless we beat Stanford by like 3 and Oklahoma beats Oklahoma State by like 20. If we both have similar wins, they can't justify jumping Oklahoma over us since OK ST will likely be ranked behind Stanford.

I think teams (rightfully) get some credit for starting the downward spiral, but yeah... Bama's schedule is not exactly good. I think Tennessee might actually be their best won though.

By the same token we should get credit for Georgia Tech and Texas.

Does anyone believe the ND team we have watched the last several weeks would beat Texas 37-0 now? This seems to be a shell of a team from the team that played week 1. I think if you look at how teams are trending other one loss teams are improving including Oklahoma.

Once again there are still a lot of games left before the finish line so anything is possible.

AP and coaches poll are in lock step for top 8

1. Clemson
2. Bama
3. Iowa
4. ND
5. OU
6. MSU
7. Baylor
8. Ohio St.

Think the committee will look somewhat like this. If we beat Stanford we're in with Clemson, Bama (assuming those 2 win out) and MSU/Iowa winner. OU gets left out. Hopefully Okie State beat them next week anyway. I think Bama ve. Big Ten winner in Dallas and ND-Clemson in Miami.

Committee will have ND at 3 hole.

Okie 4 hole is my guess. Maybe Sparty. Last possibility I think is Iowa.

My oracle best shot.

I love how everyone has Alabama locked in at 2 when their resume really isn't any better than teams 3-8

That purdue win was impressive huh?

Iowa played a crappy team and won 40-20, we played a crappy team and won 19-16. More like our play was so uninspiring that they won't move us up.

I am not saying that I believe that, but I can see how/why the committee could do it.

We get a ton of credit for Texas- it's our ultimate trump card against Oklahoma, who is IMO the most dangerous team to our chances in the country.

G Tech has been nothing but a disaster all year.

Yeah I'm not saying it won't happen. I just see both teams moving up 1 spot.

At the end of the day it really doesn't matter since one of Iowa/MSU will knock the other out. I really don't care if we end up 3 or 4. Either way we're in the playoffs.
